Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in sharing this more widely.

Hopefully the link works for everyone. Let me know if it doesn't.

By way of an update, the club have confirmed that they have sent the report to UEFA.

Wow! Great report that Alex. Thanks for taking the time and effort to expose the sorry shit show. Hopefully City might make some public acknowledgment now. Good work lad and hope you follow a Martin Samuel like career in journalism.

Probably would have emphasised the amount of buses breaking down as it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. Somebody said it even happened to them to and from the stadium.

Really appreciated though mate. Clearly a lot of effort you've gone to and just doing it off your own back as well. Taken me almost an hour to even read it with all the distractions in the house! Hopefully it's actually acknowledged by those that matter and isn't just used to electronically wipe their arses with.

The other one is I believe but maybe not after midnight with a change or two to factor in.

IST is going to be connected at some point too or that might be the tram network, I’m not sure.
I was staying by SAW airport, there was no way to get back by public transport, even had we been able to get away. There were buses but I wasnt able to get on one. In fact I was extremely lucky to be let on a packed bus back to town as I was an old guy on my own.
Annoyed with myself as I got the metro there and it was fine. Having had my phone nicked on the bus park, I retraced my steps in desperation and was lucky to get back at all.

Connected to where? Everywhere but itself?

Biggest regret was not taking the subway. Never worried at away games, but stupidly followed UEFA advice.

Brilliant work Alex, that report is amazing and totally representative of my experience. I was happy to contribute.
As I said, if it weren’t for the amazing stoicism of City fans, this would have had a very different outcome. It was a recipe for utter disaster. I can only imagine what would have happened if it had been the rags or dippers there instead - but if it had have been, there would have been a certain full enquiry and damning outcome for UEFA without the need for your time consuming, intentionally provocative and professional account.
I had to be there, and would have walked hot coals to see us finally get our hands on the trophy, but the experience was so bad that I wouldn’t repeat it on foreign soil. (Although London doesn’t seem so much of a challenge).
Bravo.
