Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

On the back of my report into the fan experience (or lack thereof) in Istanbul, I have been invited to a meeting with UEFA towards the end of September. There will also be a number of club officials present too.

I have also passed on the report to my MP Lucy Powell, as well as every other MP in Manchester. Haven't received a reply from any as of yet, although I understand the usual issues about not taking up casework for non-constituents. I am still liaising with Andy Burnham's office and have had a meeting with another relevant stakeholder.

At our last meeting with the club, I asked about their reluctance to make any public comment on Istanbul (minutes are linked below). They were firmly of the belief that they would rather wait until any engagement with UEFA is complete. Of course, I disagree with that.

Did anything come out of this meeting Alex? Sorry if I’ve missed it, I will catch up with the thread after work

It's taken this long for the UEFA top Dogs to come out with "It wasn't perfect" if only we had an aura of victimhood backed by the establishment like the scousers.

The comment about it "not being perfect" was made a week after the final and only made because the European Football Fans Association had a conference at Urbis and a UEFA big wig was present and asked....

City fans have been charged with non cooperation and 116 chargeses of failing to pay for their beer over a 90 minute period.

As I've suspected all along, City have been too busy brown nosing UEFA over the last few months to give a shite about us. They want to keep their feet firmly under the UEFA table and so will not do anything to rock the boat. Basically they are fcking the fans in favour of their new mates. Appalling but sadly not surprising.

Absolute shit show by both UEFA and more importantly the club who show yet again how out of touch they are with the fan base. Note how I said fan base and not customer base. I know @Alex - City Matters put a huge amount of time and effort into compiling the report and I suspect even with all the reports he received from fans he barely scratched the surface with the treatment we received that day / night. Two finals running fans have been let down by UEFA and their inadequate organisation yet somehow we have been ignored. I wonder if the club might think differently who the Sheikh had to queue for two hours to get on a bus and stand with no water / food, then queue for another hour to enter the ground and then be fleeced / scammed inside the ground by staff selling tiny cups of water and only accepting a currency that isn't their country's official one. Oh and then sit on a stifling bus again after the game for an hour before slowly moving off a car park that was a construction site etc. For me and I guess many others the night we secured the treble was tarnished by what we all went through. It wasn't as if it was isolated incidents as it appears that almost the entire following that night was affected by the issues that can only be laid at the door of UEFA. If anyone from the club reads this then you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves treating us like absolute shit!
