Now is not the time to be selling anyone. We have already let Ferran go. If anything we should be adding bodies as compared to our rivals we have the smaller squad.
Talking balls! As the title suggests...... does anyone have any firm views on who, if anyone, we could or should cash in on to release some cash that we could reinvest on say Haarland?
There are two prime candidates for me
1) Sterling. He's almost back on top of his game and I reckon we could get top dollar for him right now.
2) Jesus. Given the form of the other players around him I feel he is the one who would be missed least, especially if we bring in Haarland (even if we don't get him in January).
One thing is for certain, if we are going to bring someone in, someone will have to make way... I know Torres has gone or is on his way, but I never really considered him a regular.
Thoughts?
I wish I was as well informed and as ITK as many other posters on here seem to be. Though I think you'd find it hard to convince many other people that we have a threadbare squad.16 senior outfield players plus Foden and Palmer as U21s. We need to add two or three, not sell
Not sure it'll be short - it will be repetitive though.Should be short thread this one
You’re joking! Perfect opportunity for the thousands of raz haters on here to stick the boot inShould be short thread this one
We made more than £200m in TV and prize money last season.I wish I was as well informed and as ITK as many other posters on here seem to be. Though I think you'd find it hard to convince many other people that we have a threadbare squad.
Back to the question. I think it is generally accepted we would like to sign Haaland, well that's my impression anyway.
So if we want to spend say £150m on a player (guessing fee), the question that remains in my mind is; would we need to sell to do any deal of that size under FFP rules?
I do apologise if I have offended anyone by offering an opinion and I'd be happy to be proven wrong that we need to generate cash before we can spend that kind of money.
I acknowledge Sterling is improving to be near to his form of a couple of years ago, but for me I'd sell him for Haaland in a heartbeat, whilst his stock is high.
@Prestwich_Blue - Colin, how are we fixed to buy Haaland without selling?
