If you spend 400mill and sell 350 with a net spend of 50mi its not a great deal but papers hype up the 400mill spend which then brings on critics. Liverpool suffered this. Turns out Kenny spent a net of 20 summat million but gets labelled with 110 mill.

Clubs prefer to offload a player at the same time because if not they are left with a surplus player waiting to be sold who commands wages. The players value may often lower then as clubs know you have a replacement.

Fergie retires in a few years, the club is laden in debt and their team needs rebuilding in terms of Scholes, Giggs, Evra, Rio aswell as needing top quality additions up to provide strength in depth. Your talking a 200mill job here, I can't wait for the papers to report on their spending.
