Does anyone really believe we will get RvP?

Soon to be 29 year old injury prone striker who has had an amazing season. But would cost alot, yet only give maybe 2-4 good seasons before leaving on a free.
I was hoping we wouldn't go the Chelsea route in buying some of the most established players in their late 20s like Torres/Sheva. It's not like RVP is leaving on a free. To spend 25m on him sounds like a real waste of money.
Couldnt agree more, at times last season I think ecspecially in away games we lacked something out of the extroadanary. Remember watchin arsenal v spurs and arsenal were dire in that first half, and van persie scored a great curling shot into the top corner to equalise which they eventually won 5-2. Van persie did this on more than 5 occasions last season. The only player I think we have like this is mario but through injury/suspension only plays half season. His free kicks and corners are exceptional aswell and that is also something we lack. I know people are goin to say we scored the most goals off corners last season but we also wasted the most.tolmie's hairdoo said:BlueCityfan said:I still can't understand this.....but why the fuck are we still talking about/interested in Van Persie?

Don't look so far ahead.
Van Persie has just completed 60 games without any injury whatsoever.
He has/is just about to turn 29 and your 'two-four good seasons' could equate to another couple of league titles and haul of trophies, including the Champs League.
The numbers don't make sense, sure, but Van Persie is absolutely world class and technically one of the very best around. A motivated one at that to win silverware.
£25m for someone of his guaranteed quality is peanuts.
But if he came in, 1 of Tevez, Balotelli or Dzeko would go. Balotelli would be the only player I'd be prepared to effectively trade for RVP.tolmie's hairdoo said:BlueCityfan said:I still can't understand this.....but why the fuck are we still talking about/interested in Van Persie?

sturridge is a jumped up little shite who didnt give a shit about us when he fucked off!! we`ve moved on from players like him now!mancitydreamteam said:This may sound like a crazy statement but I'd take Sturridge over rvp. That is only if none of are strikers are sold. The reason being tbh we don't need rvp, we scored enough goals last season id rather take a younger player with huge potential who mancini can develop into a very good player, rather than get another quality striker which we already have 4.
