Euros are here so I doubt anything will happen until they are out of the way, then maybe before players fuck off on holiday. Suspect if we are interested in Bale best get that done before the Olympics start. The key to a good signing is when the thread of the player goes over 500 pages. :-)

The threads dont usually get that big unless we get a sniff we are on to someone but we have had none except hazard, I dont think anyone has any clue who we are in for but if we could get bale that would be a phenomenal signing

Some of you really are clueless about the game and what makes a good player!! :(

RVP would be an excellent signing in my opinion.

He has alays been top class but last season he really 'came of age' and had clearly finally 'got' being a striker.

If we look at his stats over the last 4 seasons -

2011/12 - Apps 47 Goals 37 Assists 15

2010/11 - Apps 33 Goals 22 Assists 7

2009/10 - Apps 20 Goals 10 Assists 8

2008/9 - Apps 44 Goals 20 Assists 15

Played 144, Scored 89, Assisted 45

So adding together his goals scored and assists he's delivered (been directly involved in the scoring of) some 134 goals in 144 appearances.

That equates to an average of 34 goals per season he's played a part in.

and for those of you who consider him a crock he's played an average of 36 games per season over the last 4 seasons.

At 29, yes he's no spring chicken, but he has 3 years left. Look at the stats above and explain why he wouldn't make an excellent addition to our squad?

Falcao is the better choice and younger.

On what basis? Falcao scored a lot of his goals whilst at at River and Porto - hardly premiership quality leagues are they?

He isn't 'proven' in the premiership. RVP is and to some tune.

Falcao would cost twice as much to.

RVP would clearly be a miles more prudent and appropriate signing.

A laughable rumour, Tevez + Dzeko for Ibra + Silva would be more reasonable with a bit of City cash thrown in.

And at least £30m dearer mate!!

Not really. LoveCity has documented Atletico's financial trouble. 30 million more would be a 60 million pound fee (when you consider the wages we would have to pay RVP). I would say possibly an extra 10-15 million more is more realistic. When you consider the income either would generate by getting us further into the CL (and possibly winning it) I would bet that Falco would actually be cheaper over the long haul. We could always sell him in 4 years....not an option for RVP.
Falcao would cost £40-50 million + high end wages.

He will not leave Atletico this summer, you can quote me on that.

High wages but not RVP high. So at 45 million, and less wages than RVP we are at around an extra 15 million. I expect he could be had for closer to 40 though. Not saying I think he will leave Madrid....just wish he would.

Actually, Falcao has proved himself in 3 leagues with Spain being the highlight, so I think we can safely assume he will also prove himself in the Premier League if he ever to switch..
By your own logic, I should be seeing Torres and Carroll lighting up the Premier League. They simply switched teams while thought to be premiership quality, but then turned out to be mega flops..

Like Tolmie said, looking purely on a short-term perspective, RVP would be a good addition for us to challenge for the Champions League, assuming that he continues his form at City. But I think RVP is no Nasri...he will try his best to appease the Arsenal fans, which can mean moving abroad to another club that's in the Champions League..
