1. Andy Caroll was not 'proven' in the prem by any stretch:
2006/7 Apps 7 goals 0
2007/8 Apps 6 goals 0
2008/9 - Apps 14 goals 3
2010/11 - Apps 20 goals 11
(Newcastle weren't in the premiership 2009/10)
So that's 14 goals in 47 games prior to joining Liverpool.
Hardly 'proven'. In fact that's a shite return for a centre forward.
2. Falcao has been a success in Spain - well yes for the 1 year he's been there, but that doesn't necessarily mean that'd translate to success in the Prem. Many 'great' players have switched leagues and failed miserably.
The bigger names amongst this list would be:
Veron, Shevchenko, Forlan, Reyes, Mutu, Aquilani, Robinho, Brolin, Rebrov.......
What I'm saying is yes they're both great players but RVP is proven in our league over several seasons, the other kid isnt and he'd be the more expensive of the two. For me that's a total and utter no brainer.
Apparently Liverpool didn't think like that when they splashed the cash for Carroll, mate. And anyway, at least you understand my point when you consider Torres..
Again, based on your logic, then I'm expecting Hazard and Hulk to fail when they play in the Premier League next season..
Point is, nobody can say with 100% certainty that a player can be a hit or not after changing leagues or even teams. RVP can easily not fit in with our style of play because he's so used to Arsenal tactics..
We can all agree the quality of both these players was never in question..
