are we still interested in Chiellini ?

Along side Kompany i believe we would have an impregnable defense, Both Kompany and Chiellini are very fast for center-halves.

Well Juve have just signed Mauricio Isla from Udinese. Plays CB/LB. Read into that what you will.
Mauricio Isla's a right-back, who can also play in midfield.

Because we are not goin to get the piss taken out of now with wages/fees, got a feeling this is going to be a disappointing transfer window to who we bring in. Even though i agree with it and quite happy with our current squad.

What about Ibrahim Afellay, he has had injuries but he is is the Dutch squad and has started in their warm up games, scoring twice. As long as Barca dont see him in their plans he should be quite easy to get. Has has a good touch, shot and is very quick. It seems to me me is perfectly suited to our style.

I read on here the other day that RVP wanted Wenger to sign him should he stay at Arsenal, I think he's a fantastic player and he could prove to be a deal-breaker regarding Van Persie if we signed him.

There is no need for major surgery to a squad of fantastic players. Get rid of Adebayor, RSC etc and then only look to sign players that would seriously improve us. I don't even see the point in a 'sideways' signing of equal quality given that the likes of Milner couldn't even get first team football for quite some time. There's just no requirement.

If we didn't sign anybody and went into this season with Boyata back and Savic loaned then I'd still be very confident of us retaining the league title and going further in the champions league. I think there'll be changes but it'll be quiet for the best part of three months and peoples obsession with the transfer windows will be a frustrating experience for them.

he wont sign a new contract now, he is so close to having all the cards in his hand one more year and he can get one big payday anywhere.

I don't know why because i'm not ITK but i still think Mancini doesn't think Lescott is good enough for CL which is our next big target.

Iexpect our biggest signng will be a centre back - Thiago silva is renoun as probably the best available so thats where my moneys at.

So its taken Mancini 2 years to realise Joleon isnt good enough? Lescott was just as good as Kompany last season and the season before yet because he isnt as technically gifted and isnt as quick and fancy he doesnt get the same recognition. Lescott should be starting centre back for at least another season and then see if his level deteriorates or not. Hes not that old for a centre back so could have 4 or 5 years left at the top level.

I think Lescott is better than Kompany. I've been laughed at for saying it in the best but that's what I think. That said Lescott is prone to some gaffs but so is Kompany. Neither is exceptional witht he ball at their feet but do they need to be?. They are a fantastic pair.

Despite all that I think Kompany is one of the first names on the sheet for his leadership qualities, and Lescott is more likely to take being 3rd choice due to his easygoing nature.

Therefore I'd see a new CB as being a partner for Kompany (as would everyone but many because they think Lescott is not great). With Lescott as the backup we;d be well covered for suspensions/injuries.

Ideally there's a world class CB out there with a name that rhymes with Kolo Toure. The No Limits chant must survive and prosper.

Both lescott and kompany have had good seasons and although both making the odd gaffe they should start as our cb pairing next season, the understanding is there and that's worth a great deal.
We do though need cover, I said so last August and we haven't addressed it to date, any repeat of the savic fiasco could cost us next time round. His time will come but he certainly isn't ready yet for the prem or CL.

has anyone seen this mischief making on that rag Tribal Football about David Silva? It alleges that the Real Madrid El Presidente rang him on the weekend and told him he wanted him next season and that Higuain would be offered as part exchange. Gee thats great preparation for Euro 2012 if these mind games are going on!

Silva has stated he isn't interested in the move. But... If true that he rang Silva then I fully expect City to report him/them for tapping up our players.

yes I agree if this happened then it is very unfair in terms of David's preparation for the Euros

Me thinks your opinion has invited ridicule for good reason.

Undoubtedly Lescott has had a great season and like any other centre half he can have the odd ricket but it's when he has them that worries me.

Against Stoke in the cup final last year, deep into the second half, he lets Kenwyn Jones glide past him when he was in a great position to deal with it. Luckily Hart made a superb save and the rest was history.

Then in the final game against QPR he has a brain wave and runs under the ball and ends up judging it all wrong.

In the past two seasons Lescott has been great for the club and has contributed really well but for me I have my doubts about him when it comes to the very big games.

If we want to win the Champions League and dominate domestically then for me we need another world class centre half.

It will be daft to break up the partnership between Kompany and Lescott. I don't care if Lescott isn't considered World class when he has a World class partnership with Kompany.

I agree with him, or at least he has been as good this season.

Lescott has suffered because of all the shit with Moyes and because people liked to use his transfer fee as a stick to beat Hughes with.

I've never known a player perform so well and get such little respect.
