Should be able to get him for 15m. 25m is OTT for a player who has just turned 29 and in 6months can speak to another club as a free agent.

He can only speak to a foreign club in six months.

If he leaves, Arsenal will get well over £20m, closer to £25m.

They only have to factor in his current wages of around £4m a year, what his goals are worth to them in terms of securing a top four spot next season etc.

We are talking about Robin Van fucking Persie here for fucks sake.

One of the greatest strikers in the world, a guaranteed Premier League performer.

Not you, Shooter, but some Blues need to think back to trying to sign Mido just a few years back.

People need to grow the fuck up and appreciate every moment and every player in all this.

Van Persie, should he come to City, will take this team to a world class level.

One, we are not currently at.

Ah forgot it was only foreign clubs he could speak to in 6months. Would be a great signing if we can pull it off. I presume that would mean Dzeko out?

This is exactly what people forget when they talk about injuries and age TH.

I am sure he has at least 3 good years left in him, and in that time we can possibly cement ourselves as the number one in the Prem and maybe even have won the CL.

For me if it's possible to sign him, we must get it done.

We need players who can improve our side and RVP is one player who will.

I'm sure Bobby and the owners look at Van Persie and the risk to reward ratio.

The numbers might not be pleasant but what it can bring on the field, worth millions.

For what it's worth, Van Persie is one of the most technically gifted players in all of Europe, he could play until his mid 30s in a variety of roles.

As for his injury record, we could sign Falcao tomorrow and he could break down and be out for over a year, would still see us lose out.

The more pertinent question should be, if Van Persie is only worth £15m to us, do you think United would still think he was too expensive?

Would they fuck, they would be in like a shot and we would have every right to be worried.

Ah, but signing Mido would have seen Corradi go in the opposite direction, which would have been priceless.

Out:
Dzeko - Bayern Munich
AJ - Spurs
Adebayor - Spurs
Wayne Bridge
Santa Cruz

In:
RVP
Bale
Javi Martinez

Not sure if already posted but reported that we could offer Adebayor & Adam Johnson in the potential signing of Bale
Post where you got the info then

Did a quick search online and it came up through Setanta saying that we are stepping up our interest and are looking at bargaining with both AJ and Ade.....

I know it is just rumour time etc but this sounds like a good move

Would seem that way by Tevez's comments today.

Football is ruthless and we need to be ruthless at times.

Much as Dzeko has done nothing wrong, and will go down in legend, a forward line mix-and-match of Tevez, RVP, Aguero and Balotelli...

That's a potential Double-winning line-up right there - easily 100 goals between them.

Imagine the space all these guys create for each other as defenders struggle to pick up.

And that's without Silva, Nasri and Yaya bringing up the rear.

Posters keep going on about Van persie's age,

Look at Drogba last season, Nearly 34

Didn't do to bad for himself did he?

Fa cup winner, Champions league winner

If Van Persie stays fit, he guarantees 25 goals a season imo.

I would also look at song from arsenal, if Martinez is a no go,
links up really well with rvp, would add steel and a bit of creativity in the centre.

There's no doubting RVP's Prem experience but the main thinking behind his purchase is our push in the Champs League.

With him in our squad our options in Europe would be endless.

I know what youre saying - and we don't seem in a rush to sign anyone that would compliment Edin (fast winger type) but Mario and Carlos as main men for a season leaves me a little nervous !

I don't think United have problems competing in transfer fees part, their problem are wages.

No way to treat a player who has given you eight years...

No way to treat Wenger either.

His own worst enemy at times.

I do believe he will have learnt from the Nasri debacle, though, and will demand a conclusion ASAP after the Euros.

The encouraging noises continue to be it's not about the money for Van Persie, he wants to win things.

If Arsenal have any sense they will say here's the fee, pay it, to interested parties.

If they go into denial like they did with Nasri, then they are only going to hurt themselves.

So RVP should sacrifice major honours for Wenger? Pull the other one

I am talking about the way the board is teating Wenger.

If you are going to jump into a conversation, then please ensure you understand what is being talked about first of all.

People should not get hung up on the idea that City should get RvP at some huge discount because he is approaching the end of his contract. Pricing VP is a subjective and relatively complex calculation but we can be certain that Arsenal would not sell him to City for anything less than a substantial fee. They have been making noises about letting him run his contract down regardless but that is what you would expect them to say at this point. What you do have to factor into such a scenario is the saving on wages and signing-on fee Arsenal would make and that VP could again be the difference between them getting into the top four next season and not doing so.

From City’s perspective, what matters is whether the cost of VP over the life of his contract is justifiable under FFPR as that is the only external financial consideration that Mansour may have to consider.

Perhaps you should make it a little clearer as i wasn't the only 1 who thought you were referring to RVP as that was who was being talked about. FWIW i agree with you in that sense so please re-adjust your tampon

Not if the fee is £15m, as some blues suggest it should be!

United would be able to pay him £200k a week at that fee.

I for one would be over the moon (blue) if we signed RVP you are talking world class in a glass. If we sign him, Martinez and Bale then I believe we may be on par with RM/Barca/Munich (Bayern). As far as Mancini is concerned we heard it last year, once the Carling Cup kicked in followed by CL that it is impossible for the players to play three times a week. If we are serious and I believe we are in wanting to compete in every competition we are going to have to rotate players and both teams will have to perform. With the exception of Hart who I cannot see being rested unless in CC or FA cup in the main I would expect the two teams to be as follows both equal and strong enough to either win a CL game or prem league match. IMO I have eventually moved away from the best X1 to trying to get two evenly balanced sides capable of winning.

Zab..............Kompany.............Lescott.......Clichy

Yeah, Chelsea's defence was far superior to ours last season wasn't it?

We are very far from average, best defence in the league for last two seasons.

Don't confuse average with a lack of depth.
