Are the Euros relevant, we signed Silva during the World Cup. I think the "sell before we buy" theory might be true... looks like we're getting somewhere in selling Kolo, Weiss, De Jong, and possibly Kolarov.
It would be a shame if de Jong left, he seems an integral part of that dressing room even though he's an average player now. Which pains me to say because he's a city legend as far as I'm concerned. Just don't think he's good enough anymore though.

I think Mancini would keep him if he wasn't so stubborn over his contract, he turned down our contract offer and wants more money. Club has to cash in now although there was one story that Mancini values him so much that he's willing to let him see out his contract so he can stay another season (club probably disagrees). Thing about De Jong is that he's said he doesn't mind his rotation role at the club, so if we buy a replacement he will either have to feel the same or it'll be Barry going into the rotation role.

If you think De Jong is average then you are one of the following:

A) About 11 years old and play football manager.
B) Never been to a city game.

Or are you both?

De Jong is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and a top bloke.

Pay him what he wants as he is integral to our squad.

De Jong is important because he allowed Yaya to push further forward for the Newcastle game and obviously you know what happened after that tactical change.

It is games like that where we need him and I would love to see him stay. I hope he does, but I fear the worst.

Well said, De Jong is a fantastic player and is in no way average!!!

He has been an important part of City's progress and he still in my opinion has an important role to play in our further success.

Don't play football manager and I've had a season ticket for 15 years now so it's fair to say I've been to a city game. Yes the united and Newcastle games he was important. Barry reads the game very well and I think can break the play up better than de Jong at the moment. If we want to free yaya up then a de Rossi/martinez type player would be best suited. Not a player that passes side ways with 5 yard passes.

did you see the qpr game? Did you see who brought the ball forward for Sergio? Did you see who brought the ball forward for the corner that led to Dzeko'a goal? Nigel may not hit many 50 yard passes but then again Nigel does not give the ball away to the opposition
