I was making the point that Mancini has proved himself competent enough to warrant that level of respect. The respect that if he says someone is worth buying, we should say "he's probably right".

I don't agree. Mancini always wants more players and as he isn't the one paying the bills, he has no need to reign in his desire to spend. Why should he? The more we spend, the better the players he has and the more likely we are to win things and the more likely he is to get paid more and be even more popular.

Given those circumstances, the manager is the last person to trust with the purse strings.

If you want evidence for this, I give you one Mark Hughes and one RSC.

I don't think Mancini and Hughes are fair comparisons. Mancini has done well at all clubs he's been at winning things under all kinds of different budgets.

You're right it's not his wallet that is effected, but what I'm saying is that, all the people who's wallet is effected are saying we are bringing people in. Bobby has identified targets, and they're not happening for one reason or another. I don't think Mancini would just spend for the sake of spending either. We've conquered the domestic league, and now he wants to conquer the Champions League, just like we do. That requires some spending!

As far as I am aware, TH hasn't been wrong with anything this summer as yet.

He certainly didn't say we were signing RvP at any point, said he was who Bob wanted.

To be honest after Bob's comments today about not being happy then it sounds to me like there may well be a few players that he wanted but hasn't received.

Hardly TH's fault.

However if you can re-quote some of these posts from TH's that you claim show he was wrong then please feel free......

But the "bombs" and "Defcon 1" (or 2?) turned out to be nothing at all. There were no bombs, Kompany and Mancini signing a contract are not bombs as they were expected. I'm a believer that Tolmie has genuine information and has proven on on several occasions but I think he was either flat out lied to or the victim of the club trying to weed out moles by leaking false information.

What makes you think that? I for one am absolutely convinced he was being lined up to replace Tevez. I honestly believed the club would have expected a transfer request from Tevez as he has done over the last two windows. I also think the club were for once making sure if he left there would have been a world class replacement. I also believe that when Tevez dug his heels in and said he was staying I believe the club looked at whether or not Dzeko might leave and they could get a good fee for him. Only once those two avenues were closed have they realised they can't have five strikers on their books and have moved away from the transfer. Baconface said that we had made a bid for the player so the fact that the videos were being posted months ago IMO shows they had some creedance to them. The fact that he hasn't signed on the dotted line is irrelevant to the information received.

Yeah good point there about TH I do believe he is genuine, but talking about who we want and going to sign in a meeting, doesn't mean we will get any of them!

All I'm trying to say is that City obviously have had, and still have, interest in a number of top grade players.

We will have made enquiries to clubs and agents on the basis that if could shift the players we wanted to then we would back with offers.

This hasn't happened.

TH alluding to our interest in players is well founded, imo, it just means that the "powers that be" haven't allowed the deals to progress.

A point proved by how pissed Bob was at the press conference today.

What does it matter, it doesn't need a post mortem. He posted in good faith and that's good enough for me. No one knows for sure otherwise they'd be millionaires. It's just a bit of fun, well that's how I see it. Yes I want us to make a marque signing this summer but if it doesn't happen then so what... It's not like it's the end of the world. For those who can't cope.... Build a bridge and get over it

Sorry I like TH but he did say, on Monday or Tuesday, 'We will see our first arrival today'

Nothing against TH but his hints at bombs and big signings have not come to fruition either - not that it's his fault of course
