I don't agree. Mancini always wants more players and as he isn't the one paying the bills, he has no need to reign in his desire to spend. Why should he? The more we spend, the better the players he has and the more likely we are to win things and the more likely he is to get paid more and be even more popular.
Given those circumstances, the manager is the last person to trust with the purse strings.
If you want evidence for this, I give you one Mark Hughes and one RSC.
I don't think Mancini and Hughes are fair comparisons. Mancini has done well at all clubs he's been at winning things under all kinds of different budgets.
You're right it's not his wallet that is effected, but what I'm saying is that, all the people who's wallet is effected are saying we are bringing people in. Bobby has identified targets, and they're not happening for one reason or another. I don't think Mancini would just spend for the sake of spending either. We've conquered the domestic league, and now he wants to conquer the Champions League, just like we do. That requires some spending!
