If the Champions League squad is to be the same as the Prem Squad. Then players need to be sold first before any players come in.

If Mancini decides there is one player who should miss out on playing champions league football, one more addition can be made without any sales.

The four players at risk seem to be

NDJ (Last year of contract)
AJ (Wants regular football)
Kolo (Seems to be up to Kolo whether leaves or not)
Savic (Hasn't impressed so far but is a Mancini signing)

NDJ - New contract available but hasn't signed do we cash in or not
AJ Lot been said about lifestyle and consistency again seems to be up to player to leave or not

Kolo - Mancini put his nose out of joint having played him all pre season but dropped him for Savic in community shield

Savic - In his favour a Mancini signing could possibly go out on loan but cannot see him being sold. (He may be the player to miss out on CL football if Mancini decides he wants a signing but cannot shift any of the other options.

It seems to me to be fanciful that more than one of the above will go bearing in mind we only have 8 days left. The suggestion that we are going to sign two or three players is becoming more and more remote by the day given the chances of signing players in such difficult circumstances.

Conclusion

Sinclair could be signed on the last day if Mancini opts for having a different CL squad from Prem squad but that would mean both quotas of squad players filled and the most at risk from being excluded from CL football are either Savic or KOlo.

Other than that it is one out one in or vice versa and before any start it would be better to sell rather than buy and have a player left on the books till January who can only play in COC and FA cup.

The rest of the speculation on this thread is pure fanciful IMO unless it is to replace an outgoing player. IMO Dzeko won't leave and Cavani won't be signed, there is no way we are going to start the season with five strikers.

If you don't believe me check out the players we have and using the rules put both CL squad and Prem squads together yourselves, don't forget CL rules are slightly different to prem rules.

I'm not surprised Kolo is pissed off with Savic being chosen ahead of him. The ideal scenario would be to sell Boyata and Savic and get Kolo to extend his contract by a year. Spend the 30mill we had for Hazard or a large proportion of it on a top ball playing CB e.g. Hummels or Howedes.

Already have, saved in a word document and regulary updated. It seems to me you all need to do this for yourselves only then can you appreciate why this transfer window have been so slow.

You can also see the dilema Mancini has, he was under impression Tevez was leaving so lined up RVP only to find Tevez was staying, he then tried to offload Dzeko, no suitable takers. Kolo has hummed and Ahhhhed about leaving but seems to want to stay.

NDJ won't sign improved deal but doesn't want to leave, AJ has talked about moving but nothing has been done. Savic is one of his signings so he will always figure in Mancini's plans.

If DDR had said I want to come to City and he would be a marquee signing I think Mancini would have told Kolo you are only in prem squad but that deal has gone nowhere. All in all we could be left with situation that could be the end of our transfers in. The later this window goes on the less chance will we have of offloading and replacing.

-- Thu Aug 23, 2012 9:25 pm --

Selling Boyata will not create an extra space in the squad for CL and Prem league. If he sells Savic he can then bring one player in.

Savic is better than Boyata mate, I actually think Savic can and will improve into a good player

wow. you've had a few too many.

Simon/Bill
I do see potential in him, composed on the ball, technically strong, good passer, powerful in the air, good physical strength and decent pace.

He has made mistakes but if he is intelligent and I believe he has good mental strength then then he will improve.

He needs to be determined, work hard and listen to the boss, if he can do that and make the most of the opportunities that he gets and cut out the mistakes then he will progress.

I think he needs confidence though and has looked good at right back, the fans need to get behind our young players as theye are the future of our club.

I hope he proves everyone wrong, he may not though!
Only time will tell

sorry , but if there is one thing he isn't , it is composed on the ball.

constantly on edge when he has it. not composed one bit.

he is clumsy.

not particularly good in the air.

not very quick.

im not one to usually jump on the savic hating band wagon, i just genuinely do not rate the guy.

its not as if he has bags of potential. some players like luiz at chelsea who fuck up, you can still see they have the raw materials . unfortunately imo savic hasnt

Ok if that's the case then so be it, but can we please offload MJ RSC Niemley and Boyata. At least if we do that then next summers recruitment will be a lot simpler.

Unfortunately it won't. RSC is not in either 25 man squad because Mancini has told him he won't play, if we do end up having to keep him he will be limited to COC and FA cup only. The other three players are all club trained players and in every CL squad four places are specifically allocated for them at the moment we only have two spaces taken up three if Boyata is needed because of his age.

Can't we use some of the EDS talent for that. These guys are just soaking up wages and never play

-- Thu Aug 23, 2012 8:35 pm --

You missed the worst one of all... Always out of position and having to chase every ball

Savic just needs confidence. Unfortunately the City crowd have already made their judgement. Not very impressed with the way Mancini keeps bringing him into difficult games which just erode his already fragile confidence

You have to build young players confidence up. Now Savic just looks like a dear caught in the headlights. He's got a lot of ability in my view. Likewise Boyata.

And sadly he defends like an old dear. :)

I should apologise, yes it will make things easier from a financial point of view but from a squad list point of view refer to above. As far as all the under 21s who have been at out club for 3 years or more we can have as many of them as we like for either CL and Prem squad without them impinging on the A lists, they go on what is called a B list. A lists have to be in by 1st September, B lists have to be lodged 24 hours before game starts( Europe).

Imo Boyata could be a good squad player can play rb or cb, always good to have ex acadamy players in the squad.

If it was a Harry hill shoot out I would go with Boyata

Home grown Club:- Hart, Richards, Johansen, Boyata
Home grown Country:- Barry, Lescott, Milner, Clichy, AJ
Kompany, Yaya, Balotelli, Savic, Toure, Kolarov, Zab, Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko, Nasri, Silva, Dejong, Pantilimon. Thats 23 pretty sure rodwell, razak, guidetti, suarez and rekik dont have to be registered because of their age. That leaves two spaces even if we keep toure, dejong, aj and savic, Plus we have meet the requirement of 4 players trained at the club, 8 players trained in the country and 3 goalkeepers. So people we have room for players coming in!

Hes never really had a bad game from us apart from Arsenal match, dont see the problem with having him as back up 10x times better than fucking Savic.

I may be clutching at Straws here but Tolmie said we made a serious enquiry about young Thiago. He isn't on the pitch or the bench tonight in the Classico.

Neither is Kaka for that matter.

I get confused about the requirements. Thanks for this post. :)

Thiago hasn't fully recovered from his injury yet that kept him out of the Olympics, Back soon though.

Hart is not home grown club unfortunately, Rodwell although under 21 hasn't been at the club under 21 for two years so he counts as well, guidetti Suarez and rekik don't count. So the two spaces you reckon you have are now taken up by Rodwell and Hart. So you are back to selling before buying. (Nice try though)
