I don't want to dampen the pre-signing excitement but how many of you actually think a 21 year old is going to walk into our squad from the Argentinian first division?

How likely is it he's going to be able to outperform Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez, Grealish, Foden and even Palmer to get in the side?

Throw in the £17m fee and it's quite likely he is getting loaned out. Touting him as a Haaland replacement seems fanciful.
Probably a Ferran replacement

This is the kind of deal that the new Fifa loan rules will hit. In a few years time we can only have 6 loaned out. As of right now we have a shit load and we need to reduce that number down. But we have time to manage the list down.

This lad I think can do a job in the first team. For the first time in ages we have room to move following Torres going, we can take a chance here and if it doesn't work still take Haaland in the summer.

We have 0 of these players loaned out now, (over21, not HG) and between the 10 CFG clubs we could loan out 60 a season.

There is nothing to worry about there.

We have 11-15 that don't meet the criteria out on loan.

It would make sense of a few things, certainly putting Haaland on the clock earlier this month if this lad was waiting in reserve.

Would also explain why Mendes also thinks Felix to City has a chance.

Both of those players would be welcome.
Us putting Haaland on the clock could perhaps also be because Vlahovic (who maybe was seen as the main alternative) may leave this month, and we might want some answers from Haaland this month to not miss out on both? And then Mendes comes throwing Felix into the mix as an alternative..

Alvarez to me seems like more of a Torres replacement. Same age, can play in the same positions, experience from the national team and are available for a fee we are unlikely to lose money on even if it doesnt really work out.

I obviously have no idea just figured it makes sense.

I said as much, myself. There is no agreement with Haaland, far from it.

Vlahovic was offered to us before Christmas and that's what made me think City were trying to force the issue.

Don't know anything about Alvarez as a player, but Torres leaving seems the likely replacement.

Also my understanding although the definition of Home Grown and status of players is a grey area.

Also we can only have 6 max out. We could sign players to a CFG team and loan from there giving more than 6 but not sure that appeals to the better players.

Long term replacement for Sterling and boxes off the position vacated by Torres for this season.

City will still be in the hunt for the number 9 position to replace Aguero.

Yeah we have options with the CFG to circumvent this for players we want to.

Kayky and Alvarez faced each other in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores last season. In the first Fluminense vs River Plate game, here’s the set up

In the second game, Kayky spent the entire time on the bench and Alvarez played in this set up

Saw both games, he wasn’t anything special in them. However, if he joined now, it would certainly save us a full season of “player X needs a season to adapt to Pep” excuses

He's more likely to replace Torres, Jesus or Aguero than Sterling.

Sterling, if he leaves, will be replaced with a similar profile, which Alvarez is not.

I’ve been hearing talk of Taty Castellanos from NYCFC joining River Plate for a few weeks now, and three days ago he tweeted this, which makes me wonder if maybe there is a connection?

If I recall correctly I thought I saw a couple months ago when the links to United were coming out, that Kun was his idol.

Wonder if Kun did us favour here
