It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I don’t know if you’ve noticed ,we have one player left from when Pep arrived. So we have completely refreshed the squad with barely a dip in performance or trophies.Thats very very rare, and suggests to me a club that knows exactly what they are doing recruitment wise with hardly any mis steps and deserve to be trusted.
I said that several times, whilst also saying that doesn’t mean we don’t ever make mistakes or won’t.

Only played as such all of last season in a hugely successful season for us and got into TOTS but what do I know
2 things mate (1) he had a below par performance in a pre season friendly against one of the best players in the league (2) Raheem left so people need a new whipping boy and unfortunately he got Raheems shirt number.

So wait and see what happens before deciding, chances are we’ll get it right, We have full backs and unless one gets injured we have 4 weeks to get another. If we have an injury we may need to rush something through or pay more than we’d like, if not we can take our time and be more likely to get it right.

Fuck off m8 and stop being rational. Clearly mardy arsed knicker wetting is the way forward

Grown man still saying “m8” isn’t 2005 m8.

You can have a sensible debate on matters without being a tool, if you’re bothered either way about him not coming. At this moment in time we’ve wasted all summer chasing one guy whilst making low offers on him that clearly they was never going to accept. The season starts this weekend so taking our time has left us going into it without filling a big position we need to and letting the back up for that position leave. All whilst allowing rivals to strengthen. It’s been a big summer for us, big squad players leaving. Wanting us to be in a good position to start the season fast unlike most years isn’t being a bed wetter. It’s wanting the best for our club and with the World Cup being when we normally hit that form and go on them runs, a good start is key for next year for me. Doesn’t mean we won’t be as consistent as normal, good chance we will be as history suggests it. Some are just allowed an opinion on matters rather than say trust city or fuck off. What’s the point in a forum in that case

Of the last 3 non-friendly games we played. Cancelo was not good against Liverpool, Villa, and West Ham. Why cant people blame him?

Selling Bernardo would be a betrayal to the club. We sold Zinchenko, Sterling, Jesus. And now Bernardo? Enough is enough. [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

If Chelsea are going after cucerella then maybe we should have a sniff around Ben chilwell. He was looking good before his injury last season. Reckon he would fit in here a treat. We supposedly have a good relationship with Chelsea so no issues there.

Cancelo has the same prob every 'utility' player we've used has. When Bernardo was shuffled LW/LM/RM etc his form dropped off, same with Foden at LW/F9 and even Sterling last season etc, being shifted LB/RB position and role is hard to get a run of form going.

Gundogan & Silva have both talked about this in seasons. He is good at both, but its no surprise when he gets a good run in one he looks world class. How I see it anyway.

He didn’t play left back against West Ham I can’t remember how he played myself. Fact is he played most of the season at left back and got into the team of the year, and we had the best defence so I’m not concerned about it.

Although i rate Cancelo and think he does well at left back, the fact that he cant overlap and cross in on his left also makes Grealish too easy to defend and predictable, we really should go all in for Cucarella, it would be a big mistake not to in my opinion.
I agree about the Grealish and an overlapping left back, doesn’t have to be Cucerella though other options will be available.

All the transfer news and gossip was much easier before we had the internet. When the MEN was a decent paper we relied on City journo Peter Gardner. He was the main source of transfer business and club news.
When he said we were saying a player it was usually nailed on because the club trusted him to convey any news to us blues. And when we signed a player we'd all be watching the telly for Look North West or Granada reports to see our new player being unveiled.

It was so much easier and far less worry back then.

My view always is his form seems to dip the last third of the season or so. Someone pointed out him playing the most minutes so might be down to just being knackered. He had a great 2/3s of the season in an attacking sense and is why he got in the team of the year. A right footed left back and right footed left winger just upsets the balance with Haaland now as he will thrive with first time balls into him, which won’t happen as often with right footers permanently down that side. For what it’s worth he was shite against West Ham. Similar performance to Saturday where he seemingly struggles to control or pass the ball. Wish he kept things simpler rather than think he’s a winger which his squad number of choice suggests

I know there are people here close to the club. What is the official stance, are we out of the Cucurella race? I never saw this coming and frankly I am highly disappointed. No other leftbacks in world football makes me excited. Cucurella would have been so perfect.
