Fair comment mate. I just think it very unlikely that we'll (possibly ever) get to see more than one or perhaps two EDS graduates every 5 years or so becoming genuine members of the first team squad.Respectfully disagree tbh. And players develop at different rates in any event, whether in terms of ability or physicality.
Again I point to the likes of Kane and Bale, on their way out of Spurs and heading for the Championship until timing and fortune struck
The days of youth squads progressing through to play together at top level are long gone. Clubs will continue to pay for 'ready-made' elite talent from home and overseas. That's why it's now common for City and other top clubs to include buyback and sell-on clauses in deals.
As good as our EDS kids are, unless they display an elite level of talent and desire as the likes of Foden etc, they vast majority are destined to be sold off to fund Academy costs / meet FFP targets. And it's not just at City.
