It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Yeah i know, but it would be nice if that is what Jack also says.

the article leaves it open to more as it says at least three new faces? I guess that depends on who wants to leave at the end of the season as well. I can see Laporte wanting to go back to spain as his mrs is pregnant and most woman want to be close to their mum with the first child?

Yeah, i took it as guaranteed 3 new faces without anyone but Fernandinho leaving. So, i agree with you on that if anyone else departs, like Laporte, Bernardo, Gundogan, Jesus, Sterling or Mahrez, they'd all warrant a replacement-signing, no?

FDJ is a great player but feels like another luxury - granted, if Gundo leaves it makes sense. If that's the only midfield addition, I'd be worried unless there are plans to convert Aké to a 6 or Cancelo to an 8

Just want some players with pace and physicality. We are far too slow and lack dynamism imo.

Pretty sure foden will be moved back into cm next season with grealish and Sterling being the primary options at lw with mahrez and Palmer the main options at rw.

I expect Jesus to be sold to arsenal and Alvarez to back up haaland. Would love rice to come in so we can play 4 2 3 1 with kdb/foden in the 10 behind haaland. Think that would get the best out of haaland and would allow us to be more pragmatic which we will need to succeed in Europe imo.

De Jong is just another slow technical player he wouldn’t make us any better imo

keep Bernardo at all costs (unless he is saying no way to staying) - he has been consistently one of the best players this season and he still has so much to offer.....
Mahrez may want a move to somewhere like PSG - oone final move before his career is done would make sense......

Getting Haaland has to be a priority but after that I would say a Left back and a DM.....If Gundo was to leave (and again I think we have seen a drop off in him this season...injuries causing an issue obviously) but we need physicality in that midfield and dynamism - Does Frankie De Jong offer that? - personally I think the links are to the rags not to us....Ive seen it mentioned all over that the rags are in for him so the media are just trying to fictionary create a tug of war between the two clubs- happens every season and with various clubs

We have also conceded less than Liverpool, does that mean our defence has no issues either?

Agree on RM btw
I haven't said no issues with either defence or attack,or that either can't be improved on, they can and I expect will be. What I am saying is our issues aren't as great as quite made out, and also having strikers like Liverpool have doesn't mean that suddenly we don't miss any chances and score loads more goals, the stats suggest they must miss a fair few too not too dissimilar to us .
I think we'll score some more with the right striker, but the important thing is they are in the tight games not making comfortable wins bigger. I think Haaland is that type of player so hopefully it's him.

Don’t hold your breath about going to 4231, we tried it when Lillo came in and it was an absolute disaster.

We were about 7th and Pep said he “didn’t recognise the team” and quickly changed back to 433 and we ended up winning the league.

Pep’s whole football philosophy is based on pressing high up the pitch, and 433 is the perfect shape for that.

We dominated Madrid in the Bernebeu for 90 minutes playing that shape. If anything, after he brought Gundogan and Fernandinho on, it encouraged us to sit back which may have played a part in Madrid getting back into the game.

It’s shit we went out, we’re all disappointed, but playing 433 is certainly not the reason we lost.
