City boss Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Kounde and would be tempted to move for the 23-year-old according to Mundo Deportivo. Chelsea and Barcelona have also been long-term suitors.

Just this today's stuff. I would seriously doubt Barca can take him with that cost. Chelsea is not going to fight for him if they take Ake. But who knows, i guess dailymail is full on jokes, i know :D but still would be decent shout to fill the role. Expensive tho.

No idea how people can watch Pep football for six years and still think that each player must be confined to one "true" position. Foden is a winger. Grealish is a winger. They're both also midfielders. That versatility has, time and time again, been mentioned as a key feature which attracts Pep to a player, so why don't we value that same quality as he does? Foden, Grealish, Mahrez are all "true" wingers, as far as I'm concerned. As is Palmer. Bernardo can chip in there too, as can Alvarez. The only flaw is that they're all similar in their preference of coming inside, lack of lightning pace, lack of preference for playing high-and-wide. But the idea that we have a great dearth of wingers is just silly.

Yep remember when Pep started him on the left all the time and we all saying he has played on the right or through the middle all his early footballing career?

Look how many appearances he has out wide: 30. Look how many in AM: 12.

He may have considered himself a number 10 but most of his senior appearances up until 2017 were on the wings.

What are you talking about? He was a Left Midfielder, not a Left Winger. Transfermarkt uses Left Winger to denote...Left Winger, not Left Midfielder. Here's his appearances for Ufa and PSV. Never been a winger.

He was quoted to Spurs at 70-80 million pounds in April. Even if he was 50-60 it's too much for a fourth choice CB. We should be looking for someone PL proven who won't mind not playing week in and week out.

Why ? If we can get a centre back that believes he’s good enough to play why wouldn’t we get him. One injury let alone 2 we may need to tely on him , if he isn’t good enough whats the point.

Because then you end up in the same situation where one of the four wants to move for playing time and then you're back in the same spot.

So what as long as we get our money back. Better than a Laporte injury and Stones and Dias playing ever single game. That seems an unnecessary risk to me. Getting a cheap centre back not good enough or that doesn’t believe he is is money wasted.

Kounde would be a fantastic buy if Ake leaves, but I just can't see us keeping all of Laporte, Dias, Stones, and him happy.

Honestly, I'd rather we just kept Ake since I think the balance/morale at CB is perfect, with good depth and great characters. The best CB set in the league by some distance. Bring in Cucurella and maybe take a punt on a young RW who can play high-and-wide with pace then it's pretty much a 10/10 window for me.

The spurs links I saw had him as 44m. Not saying that is right or anything mind you. Been over the whole 4th choice fucking thing round and round. Not that I believe the links, but hardly for us to say whats too much and what not. Just wanted to know where that claim came from, really.
