It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Certainly seems a confident character after what he said about Haaland as well. Will certainly help Eddy knowing he's got to earn his place in the team.

Foden is a 10/8 ish but not a winger, same with Grealish, same with Palmer (10s)

:-) don't worry, I'm sure if he believes they can be used there, must be a reason for it.
Agree but they are all better suited to play there than Zinny... Bernardo too...if Pep puts Zinny there then we'll find out...

Out of the players who play left back at the club one is probably going to prison and will not play for us again regardless. One is midfielder who Pep has turned into a left back and tends not to be wide left back and will probably be sold the other is a right back who is a better left back who cuts inside and another is a CB who doesn’t play out wide

I agree that if we do want Cucurella we are going to operate with full backs stretching the pitch and that’s what I want to see but I bet Pep will play different systems and players depending on the opposition

Pep practically invented the inverted full back and created a new way of playing it with Cancelo at times operating almost as a left back / striker / false 9 / etc

We will need a new CB when Ake goes

So I don’t see the harm in having a CB who can play there so we can operate different systems against different o positions and also effectively have an extra body. Peps history suggest he agrees with me

I don’t know anything about Gvardiol but if he is as good as people say then I am sure he is capable of getting forward and operating some what wide to a degree just like Zinchenko did against Vila etc even though he is not a traditional left back
Im 100% onboard that City need a cb and lb this window. Cucurella and Cancelo widening the pitch and overlapping will be vital

No idea how people can watch Pep football for six years and still think that each player must be confined to one "true" position. Foden is a winger. Grealish is a winger. They're both also midfielders. That versatility has, time and time again, been mentioned as a key feature which attracts Pep to a player, so why don't we value that same quality as he does? Foden, Grealish, Mahrez are all "true" wingers, as far as I'm concerned. As is Palmer. Bernardo can chip in there too, as can Alvarez. The only flaw is that they're all similar in their preference of coming inside, lack of lightning pace, lack of preference for playing high-and-wide. But the idea that we have a great dearth of wingers is just silly.

Dailymail says that Jules Kounde link is heating up also. Any info about that one? He would be superb for ake's spot.

Nope, he was an attacking mid
Bollocks. That is now. After moving to a central midfield role for Ukraine and LB for City.

Look how many appearances he has out wide: 30. Look how many in AM: 12.

He may have considered himself a number 10 but most of his senior appearances up until 2017 were on the wings.

Where’s that link? Haven’t seen it from any good sources, plus Barca seems to be his destination.

Also would cost 60m
Just this today's stuff. I would seriously doubt Barca can take him with that cost. Chelsea is not going to fight for him if they take Ake. But who knows, i guess dailymail is full on jokes, i know :D but still would be decent shout to fill the role. Expensive tho.
