Pep is convinced we don't need to replace Sterling for the left and Zinchenko should fill the requirement for him and the left back rotation.

It won’t be Kounde. I get people say ‘he may not fourth choice’, so then Stones, Dias or Laporte will be. Kounde starts at CB for almost any club, as do the other 3 we have so makes no sense for Kounde to join imo, and as nice as it would be to have 20+ world class players, it won’t happen.

The thing is the 3 in front also back themselves. While the competition for places would be healthy there is always one that misses out and eventually that one will get the hump and would want to leave. And we would be back to square one looking to bring another one in.

Check last time Pep had the alternative of multiple striking options and an overlapping leftback. Used that system until either Mendy broke or the strikers did.

It’s definitely an option. And City usually tactically set up almost with a hybrid 3atb when Cancelo is on the left and Walker cutting in more on the right.

The difference is though that Walker has the option of overlapping in attack at times. Similar with Cancelo. He can either stay further back or go up to link up with the left sided winger so it's more options in attack. When you play with 3 CB's it's predictable that they won't add anything going forward.

Ake is behind 2 players so won’t be a starter for the Dutch.

He has van Dijk, de Ligt, de Vrij and Timber to compete with.
