More of the timing of the move. Next season we wouldn't have too many obstacles in bringing in one in.So you’re saying there are quality defenders out there who could come in for a couple of years and take the role/challenge ;)

I think Ake is interested and would have played more but for injuries. Still think he may stay. Whatever or who ever I think we need a 4 th centre back because it only takes 2 injuries and we are playinfpg with one centre back. Obviously that can happen with 4 but 4 does provide an extra safety net, we have room if Ake goes ,so why wouldn’t we.It is keeping the 4th one interested that is the key.
Check last time Pep had the alternative of multiple striking options and an overlapping leftback. Used that system until either Mendy broke or the strikers did.Have a look at the number of CBs of opponent squads that play 3 at the back, eg Chelsea. We won't do that.
Btw, we want to dominate matches with a proven and - as they say - very complicated system. We won't change that for fun.
Agree...just not Zinny at wing...No idea how people can watch Pep football for six years and still think that each player must be confined to one "true" position. Foden is a winger. Grealish is a winger. They're both also midfielders. That versatility has, time and time again, been mentioned as a key feature which attracts Pep to a player, so why don't we value that same quality as he does? Foden, Grealish, Mahrez are all "true" wingers, as far as I'm concerned. As is Palmer. Bernardo can chip in there too, as can Alvarez. The only flaw is that they're all similar in their preference of coming inside, lack of lightning pace, lack of preference for playing high-and-wide. But the idea that we have a great dearth of wingers is just silly.
This season could be completely opposite to the title run and all our main CB's stay healthy and we have an extra one being totally left out of the important games of the season and is the one who just get the Domestic cups and dead rubber Champions League games while we rest either one of the 3.I think Ake is interested and would have played more but for injuries. Wing back or wide mid in 4-4-2...NEVER, EVER a winger in a 4-3-3 as a pro...Bollocks. That is now. After moving to a central midfield role for Ukraine and LB for City.
Look how many appearances he has out wide: 30. Look how many in AM: 12.
He may have considered himself a number 10 but most of his senior appearances up until 2017 were on the wings.
Who says Kounde would be 4th choice? He was quoted to Spurs at 70-80 million pounds in April. Even if he was 50-60 it's too much for a fourth choice CB. We should be looking for someone PL proven who won't mind not playing week in and week out.
You deal with each year independently...each season is its own animal...Because then you end up in the same situation where one of the four wants to move for playing time and then you're back in the same spot.
So no more wingers then? Would like to think we’d need a bit more pace out wide, like Leao, but I guess the club knows what they’re doingPep is convinced we don't need to replace Sterling for the left and Zinchenko should fill the requirement for him and the left back rotation.
Hope the lad trusts Pep :)
Found Pep's burner account !

The difference is though that Walker has the option of overlapping in attack at times. Similar with Cancelo. He can either stay further back or go up to link up with the left sided winger so it's more options in attack. When you play with 3 CB's it's predictable that they won't add anything going forward.Check last time Pep had the alternative of multiple striking options and an overlapping leftback. It’s definitely an option. And City usually tactically set up almost with a hybrid 3atb when Cancelo is on the left and Walker cutting in more on the right.
We'll see in NovemberAke is behind 2 players so won’t be a starter for the Dutch.
I agree but the new signing will have the same problem as both Ake and Sterling.
As I said before, we'll see in NovemberAké is far from a nailed on starter.
He has van Dijk, de Ligt, de Vrij and Timber to compete with.
