We missed out on the fa cup and the champions league last season mainly because our squad was stretched with injuries and suspensions. It is now smaller. That isn’t flapping that is an observation.

squad as it stands:

Can’t help but feel the squad is too small as it stands and doesn’t have the same quality of depth as past seasons. Concerned with the reports from Pol and Sam that cucurella is being put on the back burner to see what happens with ake. We need 4 full backs so surely the ake situation is separate.
Will be pretty frustrated if we neglect the full back position again this summer especially after what happened in the champions league. We have sold Sterling and are seemingly not replacing him so surely that money could be used to sign a full back.

Not that I think he is going to get big things wrong as such, more that he is giving a bit of a placeholder nothing of a claim, to keep interest tixiking over until something meaningful starts to happen.
Pol finds himself in an intereating one, he has built a bit of a perception of being reliable with City bits, at the right times and on significant occasions. Less seems definately more in this circle, and having been latched onto by Sam and the Athletic for regular slots, he seems to be having to do more filler, which is when it starts to dilute it with debatable guesses.

We missed out on the CL because we missed about 15 clear cut chances across both legs and pep effectively threw the FA cup semi. You could argue walkers injury hindered us in Madrid but be honest, we battered them across both legs and have only ourselves to blamei love when you say something negative about the side you get accused of flapping.

Semantics really, his game time is replaced, the fact they are replaced from within the club rather than without isn't really relevant.Same as Pep always said David Siva would be replaced by Foden.I.e he won't be replaced.

No one said we shouldn’t sign anyone else but to panic about it writing 3 paragraphs about how much we are too stretched - despite the fact we’re the most successful team in the Country year in year out - despite the fact 2 of the players that you’re worried about haven’t even left yet - despite the fact the Transfer window is less than one quarter through - despite the fact we are the best run club in the world and have the best manager in the world.

You are right, semantics a little bit. You get the point though, and in the context of discussion on squad size, that's still a player down. As it stands at least, currently.
