It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

It's the way the market has gone unfortunately but yet Txiki I'd still able to pull of deals like Haaland and Phillips for less than £100m. The job himself and the club are doing in the market is remarkable.

Brighton will be looking at other clubs like Burnley getting £20.5m for Nathan Collins, Liverpool getting £17m for Neco Williams, Chelsea possibly getting Ake for £45-£50m and he is our 4th choice centre back. I think they are well in their rights to ask for £50m, He was Brightons best player last year by quite some distance plus he's still only 23.

As you said, Missing piece of the jigsaw this deal feels like.
Yep i think if its not happened by friday then its going drag on til end of window. which nobody wants especially city.

Yep, I think you are right mate. Ake wants more game time, but even at Chelsea he is not a guaranteed 1st choice with the addition of Koulibaly and Tuchel is also looking to bring in another cb.

I wonder what ake is thinking now with chelsea wanting two CB`S as well as him?

Out of all our transfers (apart from Haaland) the Cucurella one is the one I want most to happen. He will fit into our side like a glove.

Sounds promising that we can get this done. I think £50m is about right for Cucurella.
Really hope we dont postpone this one
Taking one year too long to replace someone has cost us in the past, Pep deserves a squad without any hole

I would prefer Ake to stay but Torres is probably realistic as it gets for this season.

Putting exact names aside, you think that the club would happily spend 47m on a player that isn't as good as they are after, but not spend 65m on a player they think would be an ideal addition and has long term potential?

Agree with this. Plenty on here got carried away with Zinchenko. He is a loyal servant but had a few poor games before his epic performance against Villa.

They've also overplayed Jesus' abilities for us. He was excellent in the CL but generally pretty poor in the league. I mean we didn't have a striker and yet he was still on the bench for a lot of the season.

Sterling is a player we would miss, had we not signed Haaland.
Cool

Yes the villa assist is the only game he has had for us.

Ffs, a key player for 5 years now and, had a huge part and was a big reason for lengthy winning stretches that contributed to each of our titles. Not for the long haul, fucking lol.
Hold on a second, I didn't say it was the only game he has had. Yes he's played well and been an able deputy but in big games he has also let us down at times due to not being a left back by trade (CL final).

In those 5 years hes played 8, 14, 19, 20 and 15 games in each league season despite pretty much always being fit and these include substitute appearances. He is a back-up and always has been, that's the fact of the matter. The reason we talk about left backs every single year is because we need a first choice and he ain't it - he only plays if someone else is injured, that's what an able deputy is....

Great servant, great attitude, great lad but "key" player - to quote you - "fucking lol".

I wonder what ake is thinking now with chelsea wanting two CB`S as well as him?
They regularly play three at the back, have lost two of their regular CBs, and Thiago Silva will be 38 in September, so I suspect he'll be glad to have someone to play with :)
