It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Hold on a second, I didn't say it was the only game he has had. Yes he's played well and been an able deputy but in big games he has also let us down at times due to not being a left back by trade (CL final).

In those 5 years hes played 8, 14, 19, 20 and 15 games in each league season despite pretty much always being fit and these include substitute appearances. He is a back-up and always has been, that's the fact of the matter. The reason we talk about left backs every single year is because we need a first choice and he ain't it - he only plays if someone else is injured, that's what an able deputy is....

Great servant, great attitude, great lad but "key" player - to quote you - "fucking lol".

The irony is, you are using the same selectiveness that you say others are. Clearly you don't, and don't want to rate zinchenko. You say people are misguided for clinging onto the villa assist as one moment to argue his quality, while you cling onto a moment in the CL final yourself. Which btw many have argued wasn't his to lose us.

He has been phenomenal in some big games. Liverpool, chelsea, utd, a whole range in fact. And some he has been poor in, sure, in moments. So have plenty of our players.

How many of those 20, or 14, or however many in a run he played in, did we win? id say 95% of the games he has played, and we looked so good with him. That is being a kep player, if we go on a run of 12 wins he is in, that is a jey contribution to that title.

I didn't argue he is a starter for every game, nor will be. If a better or even more conventional left back comes in, he will remain a player that can and will step.in when needed, for as long as needed. But he had already done a long haul, so to argue he isn't a long haul player, after 5 years, is just absurd.

Let’s hear what @kun has to say first. Zinchenko’s goal and assist stats won’t be much better.

For me, signing Cucurella is having a better defensive left footed fullback.
It's ridiculous what Brighton are charging for him. It doesn't make any sense whatever. Just because a player had a decent season doesn't mean you as a lower mid-table premier league club have the right to charge whatever you want.

He's cucurella ffs and the people know him right now is because of city's links. He ain't not Robertson, Davies or Hernandez. Imagine paying 50 mil for a left back with 0 champions league experience and 0 top flight medals won. 4 years on contract doesn't mean you could charge 60 mil for him lmao. Downright criminal.

If I'm Txiki, 45 mil is where I draw the line. That's what Chelsea paid for Chilwell and he was amazing at leicester for a couple of seasons atleast.

It’s a bit much, but you’re right, the final piece of the jigsaw. They know it, we know it.
I think the price Is a decent price to pay for his quality, It's only five million more than what we paid for Walker, and that was five years ago today, so with todays crazy prices I think the £50 million Brighton want Is a fair price to be honest.

Walker was doing it at the top for for 3/4 years and England when we paid that fee. Cuckoo it’s his first real season at this level. 35 million plus add on to 45 would be a good deal for all around but Bloom will hold out for more

I don't think it is an unfair price for Brighton to try at all, 45m-50m for a 24 year old one year into his contract, with no need to sell.

Wouldn't rush to compare it to the Walker fee though, who was coming in as an established PL and international regular, English premium, and from a team that at the time considered themselves rivals.

That’s a fair point. He hasn’t got anything like the profile Walker had when we signed him and doesn’t have the ‘English player tax’, but then again, we paid similar for another full back who we might as well not have signed. Can’t blame Brighton for holding out.
