It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I thought all the Torres talk was because of Ake but you never know someone might be in for Laporte, Juve? It’s been reported before.

Or this is a massive plan b with Ake at LB for a year, or as usual and I suspect a load of tosh.
I agree with the last sentiments just can't see laporte leaving he's happy after his game time last season increased. Ake doubled down yesterday that he was staying. For what torres would cost €55m release clause you may as well buy a lb

Putting Ake at left back and bringing in another cb? We really are the true release clause fc.

If this is the plan b, it’s a risk in my opinion since Ake has quite the injury record. BUT, it’s probably just a ”leak” from a club that needs to sell.

I realise we'll probably never have another Pep and now is the time to make hay while the sun shines. So I understand why people want the greatest quality/depth that money can buy.

However if the rest of the window doesn't pan out and Pep has to turn his football megamind to solving a suboptimal situation I'm not too fussed. Let's be honest, our definition of 'not ideal' is in another universe to most clubs. Part of the fun of watching Pep's City is how he goes about solving specific problems. There needs to be a bit of jeopardy to go along with the beautiful football.

Didn't Laporte just come out and say he's happy and wants to stay? Dias won't go. Stones has signed a new deal. Ake is staying.

It'd be odd to add Torres into that mix too unless we're overly concerned about Laporte's and Stones' injury records but working on the basis of more numbers = more rest = less injuries, that's a lot of players to keep happy for 2 positions.

Pep, Walker, Arteta and everyone that has mentioned it are all pretty much treating the Zinchenko transfer as done. And so am I.

Beginning to remind me a little bit of the Alexis Sanchez deal. All agreed with everyone, fee accepted, personal terms agreed, player away on holiday and not with his team while they secure a replacement. In the end, Arsenal couldn't get their man, and simply pulled the plug.

Don't think that is really at all likely, and I'm pretty certain the club will sign a LB. But for some reason just had a passing memory of it.

Deal is very likely done, don’t think it’s talk. The plan is to have Ake-Cucurella left back depth, and Cancelo-Walker on the right. Torres becomes 4th choice CB, and covers for Laporte with his current injury
That’s the only reason I can think of if it’s true. Ake becomes left back.
