It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

The way to answer this is by a very simple question.

How many teams would have preferred Cancelo as their first choice LB than the one that they fielded.

My opinion is, and this is debatable, one (Liverpool).
They would start Cancelo 100%, Robertson and Tsimikas weren't that great throughout so even they don't have a case as strong

Cancelo proved himself to be the best left back in the league last season. Kyle walker is indispensable against any team that poses a pacy threat upfront. Which one of those will change by signing Cucurella?

Cancelo Is great going forward but can be caught lacking defensively. Cucurella is more well rounded. hes also a La masia graduate so he knows the pep way as it is still taught in La masia, so it won’t take time for him to bed in.

Mate most fullbacks in Europe, at least the top ones, are suspect defensively. Be it Theo Hernandez, be it Trent, because what they offer on the ball is invaluable. Zinchenko was equally a defensive liability too, but because he was so good on the ball and helping us in build up it did not matter as much. It's a bit unfair to hold it against him, because for example, in the game vs dippers at our stadium, he shut out Salah from the game completely, he can also be very good in those moments.

We don't know that, given his form and the fact that Pep does trust him wouldn't be surprised if he is still the starter. Also Cucurella will take a while to adapt as well, so if Cancelo's form is good he will start and won't be dropped.
Think they will be 2 very different left backs and will both be used depending on the opposition. Other games Cancelo will play on the right to either rest Walker or provide something different. I'd expect all 3 to play about 35 -40 games.

Teams allow spaces behind their fullbacks these days as most teams don’t play wingers.

If we're being truly honest Cancelo was great for 12 weeks, then got assaulted and was never the same going forward, or defensively. He wasn't bad, but he didnt maintain that early season form.

Perhaps it's the way I'm reading that but do you mean "all but Liverpool"?
