It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I do feel like we are going in light even if we sign Cucurella. But I also bear in mind we have 5 subs rule this year and wonder if that's something that is being taken onto account by the club. It certainly is by Pep. It gives a lot more flexibility to give different players rest over the season and bring in more EDS players.
Where do you think we are light?

*let me correct myself. Relatively light compared to other seasons and tbf, it's only at full back really. The things we can complain about, proper champagne problems.

Full backs 21/22: Walker, Cancelo, Zinchenko, Mendy
Full backs 22/23: Walker, Cancelo, A N Other?, JWE?

Walker is a super human athlete but so are many of our opponents and nobody is immune to the effects of aging. He will be 33 at the end of next season.
JWE has potential but I've not seen enough of him to suggest he can step into Zinchenko's shoes and be a senior player.

So we must at least sign a first team left back imo; that way JWE is the 4th full back.

Could also argue ....

Wingers/Forwards 21/22: Sterling, Jesus, Torres, Grealish, Foden, Mahrez,
Wingers/Forwards 22/23: Haaland, Alvarez, Grealish, Foden, Mahrez, Palmer?

Alvarez may need time, and should be given leeway.
Palmer I really, really, like, both the way he plays and his character, and I hope he nails it this year but yeah, there is still a question mark. IMO though the only way you'll find out is if you test someone properly and he's certainly earned that chance. So I'm actually quite excited for the refreshed forward line up.

Hahaha, sorry but I stopped reading when I saw you included Mendy for last season.

Don't trust in Pep to use Foden Grealish Alvarez Haaland Palmer Mahrez properly?
Poor question.
What if Pep plans to move Grealish/Foden to MF (choosing not to replace Gundogan) ? What if we want to plan for life after Mahrez with a different sort of winger, with Palmer being the Mahrez kind of winger ?
There are many valid reasons why we could look to sign a winger next summer.
