It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I think the point is that (almost) everyone, I would hope, thinks we are weak at the back without a new senior full back or, at least, some more cover. There is no problem in saying that. But those of us who aren't prone to panicking are willing to give the management team the rest of the month to come up with their back-up plan. I think they are well able to come up with something that will keep Guardiola happy.
I like the idea of a panicking deadline. I shall set my alarm for September 2nd!
I maybe concerned a few times before then though.

I'm assuming to Pol since he is the one posting it.
Okay so it sounds that like me you don”t know what it was he said and are unsure who he is supposed to have said it to. Hopefully somebody at some point will have read the actual article and tell us exactly what he said and the context of what he said.

While depth important, pep say he prefer small squad. It's makes far more easier to keep everyone happy rather than bigger squad.

We are going the same problem every year if we keep having big squad for depth, many player will constanstly asking for leave because they was unhappy for playing time. I mean Pep is godly having to manage this many quality player, but he only just human and he can't make everyone happy with his decision on who's going to play more amongs player full of international and quality player.
I'd suggest we still need to add another defender to be in that position.

Bear in mind that Sterling stayed for 7 seasons, Jesus for 5 and a half, so even the players who wanted to play a bit more were around for a long time. We play enough games, and enough big games to keep the size of squad we've had the last few seasons mostly happy. It's when you have good players that just aren't getting into the team in the first place, or are looking at 10 games a season, that you have bigger issues.

I guess the Twitter post has done as intended…let people take it out of context. I believe someone else put the full quote a few pages back. Well, at least I’m still getting entertainment while in hospital. Never change BM

Here's the full paragraph - it goes on to say a bit more about the negotiation, which City were relatively relaxed about, but say Brighton were cagey about figures, so they felt it was ok to bid below the £50m mentioned in the press. I've bolded a section that suggests it's the full back that's the issue, and that they are expecting to get one in - clearly finding a good full back is a lot easier than finding a world class striker.

It is a late setback and City, not least Pep Guardiola, are desperate for a left-back. Just like 12 months ago, when Harry Kane could not be prised from Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola is more than concerned about the balance of his squad. Unlike 12 months ago, alternatives may be easier to come by.

Sources close to Cucurella, and influential ones at City, believed a deal would be feasible up until the end of last week.
