With three weeks to go in the transfer window I don’t see how it can be “obvious“ (as I’ve seen on BM) that we won’t bring any more new players in.
Starting the season with two full backs was clearly not the plan. Behind the scenes I can’t see Pep telling Txiki that his squad is now fine and he is happy to go with what he has been given. City spent too long going after Cucurella and thank god Chelsea came in and put a definitive stop to the uncertainty.
I don’t think for one minute City are thinking “ah well we had a crack but it wasn’t to be” City have to bring in a full back at the very least. To start the season with two isn’t ideal but everyone makes mistakes. To let the window shut with our defence as it is would be dereliction of duty for a club wanting to win the Champions League.
It isn’t going to be easy, because we have shown our hand, but it has to be done nevertheless.
