I am sensing a Danilo/Cancelo type deal coming up before the window closes.

Pep’s comments on Bernie looked to be emotional. Back at the camp for a charity game. Emotions got the better of him but if you want to read between the lines, the deal is not dead. My only issue is why we have not got on with it and swapped De Jong? Wages? Surly something could have been sorted out. We wanted Frenkie before Barca so I’m not sure what’s going on.

I’d be interested to see what their bid is.

I’m not as against selling Bernie as most are. He clearly wants to leave, and I’m old enough to have learned by now not to get too attached to the players anymore.

If he wants out, I’d prefer we let him go - but it has to be on our terms, not some lowball mockery from a club we know can’t really afford him. And we need a replacement.

If Barca can come up with a genuine offer acknowledging the value of the player - to us and to them - then I’d take it as long as we can strengthen the team in the process.

But this PSG lowball bullshit is just agent games. It’s got Mendes’ MO stamped all over it!

Mendes probably wants a FDJ/Bernardo swap - they'd be on the books as concurrent but discrete transactions, so he'd still get his cut.

Maybe a signing on fee or loyalty bonus could bridge the gap. His wages need adjusted as it was crazy and still is for any player. Think it was reported to be €450? Madness.

Barca don’t need to find a lot of money for Bernie if de jong is involved. If we take the blue specs off both players are very good in their own right. The fee is probably similar.

Get it done and let’s move on. This Bernardo situation has been going on for too long. He has wanted out for 3 seasons. The lad has played fantastic for us during that period bar few months here and there. Let’s hope a solution can be found. Missing out on Frenkie would be a typical city move for us only to buy an inferior player in the future. Gundo and Kev won’t be here forever and we need to plan for the next 5 seasons. As I said? Not sure why this deal can’t be done.

The only issue maybe with Gundo’s playing time? He wasn’t happy with it last season and de jong would eat into that. We have to be respectful to the player who has played a huge part in us retaining the league.

How this has dragged on into the final week of the window when him and Barca both want each other for a good part of 2 years is unbelievable. Barca have managed to sign everyone under the sun but him and Bernardo should maybe look at Barca's priorities.

Last week pg was saying silva will be staying .
