Shame in a way. Was keen on the idea from the get-go personally but if there’s bigger fish coming then so be it. Silver linings and that.

He's always said he isn't. That's the point in the end of a DOF. The manager will be consulted but Txiki will decide along with the money men.

I’m just praying for a Frenkie Summer. I think I’ll always stick by the fact he’d be perfect for us. Especially while we have Pep.

They'll discuss likely targets together and rate them in order of preference maybe, ultimately it's not down to (even) Pep as manager though.

If he really wanted a player he'd probably get him, where he might like Maddison but if Txiki were to say he'd rather get say De Jong., Pep would be fine with that too and not see any need to push it, especially if Bellingham was on the cards as well.
