It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Changing formations or not, 100-120m for a player that isn’t star value nor a starter is maddening and rag level of investment. I think city distanced themselves from both Rice and FDJ

It does make sense if we go to a double pivot. You would then have both Rodri and Rice/FDJ/Philips breaking up play but then also supplying the 4 in front of them . They wouldn’t be on the bench they’d be starting.

We played it v Chelsea but with Bernardo as that other pivot with Rodri. Highly doubt Pep will want two defensive players in a pivot ever tho.

In the 2020/21 season, Guardiola used a 4-2-3-1 more often than in any of his prior seasons at Manchester City. A double pivot of Rodri and either Ilkay Gündogan or Fernandinho covered the space ahead of the back four

That’s not true. Only for the build up from the back.

4 1 2 2 1 is always his preferred formation.

Never happening. 1. Pep playing a double defensive pivot. 2. City paying 120m for a player only to play backup and in a double defensive pivot

haha

Its 2 Registas in a pivot. Rodri isn’t just a CDM hes a Regista same as Kalvin Phillips. Gundogan was another Regista in that formation when we used it.
