Which we don’t.

We did.

Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

In the 2020/21 season, Guardiola used a 4-2-3-1 more often than in any of his prior seasons at Manchester City. A double pivot of Rodri and either Ilkay Gündogan or Fernandinho covered the space ahead of the back four (below). The back line often converted into a three, as João Cancelo moved forward from left-back. City often attacked without a traditional centre-forward; if Guardiola went without Gabriel Jesus or Sergio Agüero, he would instead use a midfielder or winger – Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva or Ferran Torres – as a false nine. Central rotations allowed Gündogan to push forward from the double pivot – often with Cancelo joining Rodri in midfield to maintain a two. Gündogan then made penetrative runs through the inside channels in the space created by the high and wide wingers

His gf really took some shit for us, she a true blue! Bring him and his fam back to where they belong! Leroy Sane was dippers worst nightmare tearing them a new hole every game he played against them
You already know how much shit we get from germany from journalists and clubs imagine how much she got for saying we are basically better than them lol

Its 2 Registas in a pivot. Rodri isn’t just a CDM hes a Regista same as Kalvin Phillips. Gundogan was another Regista in that formation when we used it.
Nah now you are just excusing it. Rice let alone anyone is playing a double defensive pivot never happening. Nada.

I’m not sure yesterday’s performance will have any bearing on next season’s line up.
Absolutely right, too many judge on 1-2 games, seen Mahrez is off because he missed a penalty ha. I think he may go because of the contract situation but yesterday or the previous game will have zero bearing on next season.

We use that formation in about 5 games a season, against the scousers, Chelsea and good European sides. It’s also only when in possession to aid the build up against sides that commit more players to their attacking press.

We defend in more of a 442 formation.
