It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I think Alvarez will be playing a lot more than we think next season. Watched a brilliant video where they were talking to a person that knows Argentinian football and River plate. Take aways from that video are

. He's not a new Aguero he's more of a Thomas Muller.

. He can play anywhere across the front three, Left, Right, False 9, Striker, CAM

. He's a European style striker, playing in Argentina. His style of play is more European.

. He drops deep to link up play a lot, works his socks off to try and get the ball. Not a fox in the box, more of a pull the defenders out of position to create space. Reads the play

Weakness, hes very bad in the air. He's not good as a aeriel threat

Strengths, Finishing, Vision, Intelligence

Alvarez and Haaland are really going to compliment each other. Could be like Lewandowski and Muller at Bayern.

Crystal Palace have approached Cheick Doucoure’s representatives over a move but face competition from Wolfsburg for the Lens midfielder.

He'd be a great option for us as a 6/8. Gonna be a monster.

I think the main issue here is that promising the back up keeper the League Cup and some FA Cup games should be enough, I'm not sure why he needs to be promised nearly 15 games.

I've also always really disliked the idea that Ederson wouldn't win a treble if we won all 3 competitions. You're not officially an FA Cup winner without playing so Eddie wouldn't be part of a treble or quadruple, which is bollocks.
Do need to balance that against having a strong GK group atmosphere and a capable and ready back up. How you keep multiple GK happy and at top of their game in case of injury to Ederson is a challenge and so if he doesnt know when his next game will be, your levels drop

You know, prob a decent documentary in the backup keeper role. The mental strength to keep yourself ready, could you move and get a #1 place. Why stay etc..

Why Alvarez has been on the bench for the last 2 games? They didint even use him last night ,when they lost 0:1....doesnt sound good.

MAN CITY MOVE…

As these major reports emerge, however, TUTTOmercatoWEB claim that Inter forward Martinez is still eyeing a move to the Sky Blues.

The Italian news source state the Argentine ‘wants a big’ move, preferably to a club with many titles and real winning pedigree, with Man City named as a preferred destination.

It is also claimed the Nerazzurri will let him go for around €80 million (£67m).

Maybe because we've triggered his release for the summer? They might be giving more games to his understudy.
He got injured in the warm up in a game last week where he was pulled from the lineup a few minutes prior to kickoff, probably just has a niggle.

One bad game does not absolve the other he did in this season, very unfortunate the timing was not at the right time in important semi final match but he only just human.

You're asking the impossible wanting a backup as close in the quality as Ederson our main keeper, for the backup he the best we can get that willing to play a second GK where he could play elsewhere as main starter keeper.

Unless you want our club to pull PSG, paying absurd amount of money just to get a world class keeper as backup then forget it. There's more priority position that need to be strengthened first.
Totally agree. Its futile comparing ANYONE with Ederson. No other keeper, currently, is able to do what he does with the ball. There are no others like him. He has the skillset of a top midfielder. He has the awareness to know where the pass is before he's received the ball, coupled with the coolness of mind and ability pass the ball better than 99% of outfield players.

He's Zidane in net. He's only in there cos he's a lazy bastard and doesnt want to run.

His passing isn’t an issue, mistakes are the issue. His accuracy with the ball has always been 80-90% since he joined the CFG. Conceeding unnecessarily is an issue. No problem with him as a backup if he wants more game time though no problem with that either. I’m sure we’ll find a stopgap. Trafford probably, bazunu will be loaned out again or sold depending on the contract renewal.
given time, he's assured with his passing. Under press he and all the others fall apart as they dont have the composure and ability to see the pass before they get the ball like Ederson. You can coach passing but its harder to coach passing under pressure, you almost need a goalie to train as an outfielder for a while in their development

Gone are the days of the goalie only going in net cos they're shit at football

"Hi Erling. Your hair looks super awesome today" "Thanks Julian. You are just so beautiful inside and out"

I agree - they are going to really really compliment each other.

And he saves the odd shot now and then.
