It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I still don't really get it with Rice. I know there are certain intangibles like his leadership but I just don't see any reason why he'd be bought for anything over £50m, other than the Grealish scenario of him being worth more to the selling club than anyone else.

He's not really exceptional on the offensive end where it would justify him playing the same box to box role that he does for West Ham and he lacks the passing range of someone like Rodri, which means if he was to play in a strictly holding role then he'd be there for nothing other than rotation.

What am I missing with him?
I’m similar. He looks decent but nothing more.

Probably the same as me, I really don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Dare I say he reminds me a bit of Gareth Barry?

That's not a criticism because Barry was a solid player and criminally underrated by fans of other clubs but I'm looking at some of the rumoured fees and thinking surely I'm missing something here?

Fees for English players have been ridiculous in recent years so maybe it's following that trend. Look at the likes of Ben White and Jack Grealish and the £100m+ fee being touted for Dele Alli a couple of years ago or the one Spurs were asking for Harry Kane last year.

It's not something I particularly care about but the squad is heading towards the end of a cycle with various players heading into their thirties or running down their contracts and so I don't really get the idea of blowing silly money on a player who isn't a direct improvement on any of the players he'd be playing alongside or replacing.

Sorry but I write regular, normal posts with points like everyone else and open this forum the next day in the morning and see people gratuitously calling me “condescending little shit”, the least I will do is stand up for myself and try to clarify what I meant. People can feel free to ignore the posts, but hopefully on the way they also ignore these strong instincts to misinterpret and mischaracterize what I say and offend me, because I swear to you it is suffocating and I don’t know what else to do. When I think I have significantly toned down and this harassment still doesn’t stop
TLDR ;-)

The only English player, Foden apart, I think worth the big money would be Bellingham. Can’t see it either with Rice. Overhyped #EnglishPremium
