It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Keep Jesus (extend his contract with a slight payrise) maybe keep Gundo as cover (providing he is willing to accept the role) but cash in on the rest (including Mahrez). Just got to make sure that Haaland does arrive in the summer. Instead of a Left Back maybe a right back to help Walker and keep Cancelo on the left. Another Midfield to cover Rodri wouldn't go amiss

Thing is (and I agree with you) dont Dortmund have a pattern of only selling one of their big players every transfer window....last season Sancho, this season Haaland - I cannt see them letting both go in one window...guess it also depends on where Bellingham is in his contract but id guess not that close that he could force the issue
Like you said, it’s a pattern, not a rule. But I wasn’t even saying that we need to get him this summer necessarily (though, if possible, I would). What I am saying is we need to fill the position now even if not with him. I really like him, but I don’t think he is a generational talent that you jeopardize yet another season for. There are many other great options.

We need 2 or 3 twats who will bend the rules, play on the edge of cheating and do whatever they can to win.
We know who they are in other teams and they are the teams that usually win against all odds.

Back in the day, FHL and Mike Doyle were just two who fit the bill, not world class players but world class winners.

There's a lot of changes being mentioned, our big problem is that what seems like 50%+ of our new signings take 12 months to bed in.

If we go bollocks out and bring in 4-6 players there's a good chance we'll just not perform next season at all.
Recruitment needs to find the players that will settle in easily. Someone like Nkunku I don’t think would take a season. Like I said before, we can’t be afraid of squad refreshment when it’s badly needed. I don’t know how many other signs are needed

We have let it fester too much. Pissed about with kompany, silva, fern & Aguero replacements. We should be dominating now but have allowed Liverpool in & they have recruited much better.

raz - move on
Jesus - move on
Mahrez - move on
Fern - finished
Cancello - not consistent
Gundy - prob 1 more season
Walker - prob 1 more season
Stones - injury prone
Laporte - not consistent

just to many players not taking us to the next level & I don’t see any kids coming through so I’m not sure what’s next as we ain’t buying 3/4 new players this summer (sadly) we need energy in the club & 2 strikers

Well, go see what people said about even the idea of bringing Rudiger in his thread. Guess what, I think he could have helped and he will be a star at Real Madrid if he ends up there.

Oddly, we haven’t seen any of the diving and cheating Grealish was “known for” at Villa

That was the idea with Kane, but most (including me) would still rather see Haaland come in. It’s not always as simple as finding the short term answers.

Grealish will take a lot of heat, but his skill set means he’s best placed in the medium term to step in for KDB as an 8.

What’s the point in having one of the best managers in the world and not giving him everything he needs to succeed?

I feel like there is some complacency within the higher ups who think Pep’s ability as a manager will paper over the cracks in our squad.

It’s crazy that when you consider the money we have spent, that we are still lacking a proper LB, striker and pacy winger.

Time for the board to stop fucking about and get Pep exactly who he wants for next season.

I would've loved Rüdiger. Class player

Been saying this for a long time that we also need a proper winger in this team, specially to that left side, not use midfielders there.

You have missed that pace and directness since Sane left. All your players are about control and slowing the tempo to your pace, but sometimes you just need that injection of pace and directness.

Plus you a crying out for a focal point. Someone who also wants to get in the box on the end of things.

Ederson, Stefan, Carson

Walker, Porro
Dias, Stones
Laporte, Ake
Cancelo, zinchenko

Rodri, DeJong
Bernardo, Foden
DeBruyne, Gundo, Mactee

Mahrez, Palmer
Grealish, Nkunku
Haaland,
Alvarez

Players to move on M***y, Fernandinho, Sterling & Jesus, I’d imagine we would bring in somewhere around £80-100million from Jesus and Torres sales which payed for Haaland and Nkunku, Sterling for DeJong swap.

I’d like to see Bellingham replace Gundo in 2023 along with Pedro Neto for Mahrez if he shows he’s recovered from his injury.

We can and should still win the PL, but even if we do we need to refresh the squad.

Out-
Sterling
Dinho
Zin
Gundogan- one of my favourites but he is not the player he use to be, we can do better.
Mahrez-If he is not willing to extend his contract

In-
Haaland
Alvarez
De Jong/ Bellingham
Nkunku
LEFT BACK!

I don't think selling Zinchenko is the right move at all.

He is a quality player that is versatile and is okay with being on the bench because he loves the club and is happy here, You need players like that in your squad. Is there anyone available who is willing to take that role that is better?

That’s precisely why I think giving Pedro Porro a season as backup right back is a better option, gives us depth without spending more money, wages will be low too.

Ake?

And even if not, it is irrelevant. The question is can we do better? Isn't it time after so many years to have a world class LB? Don't you think that just for the sake of example a player like Theo Hernandez or Alphonso Davies will upgrade the team on some levels?
Zin a nice guy and a good player. But we can do better

Theo Hernandez just signed a new deal, and Milan has new owners coming in with tons of cash they are not selling, and good luck getting the German rags to deal with us on trying to poach one of their best young players.
