I saw it and thought it was an interesting conversation point. In particular the fee of 40m.no, not still. don't post it then.

Cancelo played exactly how Delph or Zinchenko played in the 2nd half vs. Villa on the right. He sat alongside Rodri while Zinch went futher up on the left. He can also be a deep lying playmaker from there like his through ball for Gabby which he almost got onto and Kev picked up the loose ball for the 3rd goal.Unless Walker gets injured he won’t play in any significant games at RB.
Once Pep gets proper width from a LB he won’t want a LB to come inside.
See this is another thing about Cancelo, he does not play the way Delph or Zinchenko do, adding to bodies in midfield which has a big tactical advantage in some games. His “coming inside” actually only happens around the 18 yard box.
Our full backs bar Walker and Aké are 8s anywaySlowly transition Cancelo into an 8
Can't see us paying over £50m for what's to be competition for Rodri. Especially age and profile considered.

We should be spending that money in players that are worth it, though. That’s what I think the poster meant. Or be smarter paying less50m is quickly creeping towards the norm for a decent player.Besides,we have quite a kitty....and with the relative bargain prices we are paying elsewhere, this fee can easily be offset.

He is worth it though,in terms of fitting the profile we require....he ticks every box.We should be spending that money in players that are worth it, though. That’s what I think the poster meant. Or be smarter paying less
It’s not the end of it for me, though. I have no problem discussing and questioning. And getting a transfer wrong is all debatable. We can sign someone and they work, but it doesn’t mean we couldn’t have signed someone better for less, or that another club didn’t sign someone as good or better for less. Our club’s operations aren’t criticism-proofIf Pep and the club think they are worth it then that is the end of it. We can all have our opinions about it but if that is the player they want then we should trust them on that. We very rarely get a transfer wrong.

Then feel free to disagree with them instead of the cheap rebuttal. I’ve never had a problem debating and hearing different opinions from mine. I was trained as a journalist to ask questions, not blindly trust anyone and to think about the bigger picture and outside the box. That’s why the “let’s just trust the club” approach doesn’t work FOR ME, but to each their ownAnd neither are you're opinions.
Paragraphs please!I sometimes think people misunderstand the meaning of rotation. We don’t rotate players for fitness reasons alone. We have a squad in which every player can be important. For instance, we have three world class CBs in Laporte, Stones and Dias. The way Pep picks which two play is due to how he wants the mechanic of the team to work. In some games, a pairing to face a certain opposition is better, in some others, it will be another. The three are different from one another. That’s why I don’t understand why some here think it’s a crime to have one and a half player per position. Every player that gets mentioned as a possible signing is met with a “he’s not going to be happy on the bench!” reaction. Which top drawer club has this inflexible starting XI?! We already have a smaller squad than the rest. Every player knows that when the competition is talented, they may face being benched, and we should NEVER sign a player that would be happy on the bench. We have to sign players that will give the manager more possibilities. For instance, people here think we can’t possibly sign a great DM because we have Rodri who will play most games. The reason Rodri has been playing most games is because his “backup” was Fernandinho who wasn’t physically at his best for our level anymore. That is a problem because as great as Rodri is, and this may be hard to grasp, we should have a DM of a different profile that can offer a world class option for certain games. Pep should be able to choose “which one is better for this opponent?” rather than having an equal but slightly inferior body there. We should have the richest (in variety) bench in the world to compete to win all four competitions and we don’t — guess what, someone out there will! The moment we don’t have players that are wanting to play more and unhappy not to play in certain games, we will be fucked. And this is a reality at Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern… We should be looking to increase the squad in bodies and possibilities, but if we’re to sign a player, immediately someone is talking about letting another go?! That is the wrong mentality.
I am not screaming into the void, I am posting in a transfer forum, where debate should be welcomed. Or we should just close this forum altogether and wait for the “Welcome Player X” thread in the main forum and only discuss after the fact. A bit fascistic, no?Feel free to scream into the void then. Won't change who Pep wants to sign.
Edited for you ;)Paragraphs please!
We can never know whether we could buy somebody better for less as we can can never know what would happen with those we don’t buy, simply because we don’t have all the information you would need. It’s not the end of it for me, though.
