I think James is great for us but that just creates another problem for Chelsea that they’d have to go and fix. I’d be amazed if the deal ended up as complex as this - they rarely ever do!

Raz, Gabby, Ake, Zin, Steffen, Torres, Bazunu, Fern, Gyani, Egan-Riley, Edozie, Porro.

That's almost £285m right there. All not guaranteed starters or fringe squad.

Haaland, Alvarez and Phillips in so far @ £110m.

Cucurella and more to follow.

Unless I’m mistaken, I don’t think the deal tolmie mentioned is actually what is available to us. That’s just what we’ve asked for, to which Chelsea will obviously say no as it’s way too good a deal for us and too bad a deal for them to decimate their defence even further. I think if they offer £100m for the two, they get both. If not, they just take Sterling.

The player has improved and he seems a decent sort but his role in the squad is to push the starters and be available when said players are injured.

His injuries last season won’t stop existing next season. Take the money and find a suitable replacement.

Aké has a much better injury record in his career than Stones and also than Laporte, so I'm not sure how you can write off Aké for last season but label what happened to the others as a freak occurrence

We need a 4th centre back, and if he can be persuaded to stay, I'd much prefer to keep Aké. Even if only to limit the amount of disruption to a squad that's already seeing 3 first-teamers leave

James is absolutely worth 70m. He's imo the best right back in this league, solid offensively and defensively. We'd absolutely break the bank on that to secure an early Walker replacement. Cancelo continues on the left and we would be a ridiculous team
