i don’t think we have even started talking with Brighton tbh. If zinchenko stays it appears we are happy with our current crop of full backs. Won’t lie I’d be disappointed to miss out on cucurella but I’m not surprised zinchenko isn’t leavingIndicates we are nowhere near signing Cucu and are trying to put pressure on Brighton/him.
I'd love Zinchenko to stay but not if it means not signing and actual leftback
The only reason I can think of is playing time, cancelo and walker will both expect to start and Ake will want more minutes this year for the world cup if we sign a fullback akes only minutes will be the cup games or if we have 2 cbs out. I honestly think we could use another fullback rb or lb. Glad if zinc stays though. There is no obvious reason as to why that would be the case.
We've got more than enough money so I have no idea why the club seems reluctant to pay up to fill gaps in the squad.
If zinchenko stays that would be the ideal solution. Really don’t want us having to play stones at rb anytime soonKeep Zinchenko
Sort a RB

Keeping Zinchenko saves us money, get another young full back or rely on Wilson-Esbrand. No need to fork out £50m, I rate Cucurella but clearly just upped the price because City are interested.
How do you know this?? Or is it your opinion?I like Ake. He seems like a really nice guy and I genuinely think he's a decent centre back. But the truth is that he wanted to go to Chelsea this summer and the only reason why he's not there is because they didn't want to pay what he was worth.
With that in mind, I don't think we should be going out of our way to appease him, especially at the cost of signing another left back. As much as I rate him in the middle, he brings virtually nothing at left back.
So yeah, I just wouldn't understand that decision. I've said all summer (and probably the last few summers) that I think we should keep Zinchenko and sign another left back.

That’s not an answer. It’s a pompous retort. It’s not clear whether you have some factual information on what Ake wanted - or whether it’s just your opinion.Come on now, let's not be silly.
Jude! What are we saving money for though?
Brighton are asking for roughly the same money for their player of the season as we have received for three players who didn't make our starting eleven, two of which had a year left on their contracts.
I will be over the moon if we keep Zinchenko but I really struggle to see why we wouldn't buy a left back.
If we really don't want to pay that much for Cucurella then that's cool but why wouldn't we sign another?

The move fell through because Chelsea didn't want to pay what we valued him at. That's common knowledge.
Do you think Chelsea went through all those negotiations after spending the previous week or so working on personal details with Ake without knowing that Ake wanted to go there? Every journalist who covered the subject said that Ake was open to joining them.
It's got nothing to do with opinions or pompousness, it's common sense.
Fair enough if you didn't actually follow the reports but if you did and you're still going to say "how do you know Ake wanted to go" then you're being silly.
Gabby and Zin at the tarquins sticks in my craw. They patronised us when we were shit and then became bitter as fuck when we overtook them.
I don’t really know what Ake wanted
