It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

This has been a very strange but very busy window. City have been unusually busy, but selling more than buying. Chelsea have been busy but scattergun. Arsenal have spent big. Spurs have bought big by their standards. Liverpool have been relatively quiet, replacing Mane with Nunez. United have been desperate to add quality but have struggled to land their targets. There has been a lot of money spent.

City’s scouting has been very good since Pep took over, only Bravo, Nolito and Mendy have been misses. What’s notable is the targets we’ve missed for various reasons, Alves, Sanchez, Maguire, Jorginho, Kane and now probably Cucurella. It’s hard to know whether they would have made a difference in that missing Alves lead to Delph and Zinchenko at left back. Chasing Sanchez cost us Sancho but eventually got us Mahrez. Missing Jorginho got us Rodri a season later. Maguire meant a belated Dias. Kane staying at Spurs lead to Haaland.

All in all the failures didn’t cost us in terms of personnel but nay have cost us elsewhere. Would Liverpool have strolled the league if we had another centre back? Would Alves, Kane or Jorginho made a difference in the Champions League we’ll never know.

One thing we do know is that City occasionally allow themselves to be taken for mugs. City regularly brief they are relaxed about certain targets. Like Alves or Kane or Cucurella. They are relaxed and when it doesn’t happen they are left scrambling. Like selling one of the few options at left back without securing his replacement. I understand City aren’t naive and transfer business is akin to shifting sands. All of this makes me very nervous when City are relaxed on Bernardo. We’ve heard it before and it doesn’t always end well.

Let’s put it like this if Bernardo leaves a big if, that Barca get the money to reach our price have we strengthened or weakened this window.

outs
Zinchenko
Bernardo - if Barca have the money
Jesus
Sterling
Fernandinho
Steffen

in
Haaland
Ortega
Phillips
Alvarez
Paqueta - if Bernardo leaves as we have been linked a lot with him as a replacement.
If it pans out like that then we've weakened the squad for certain

City and PSG doing business? That would be a first.

At this point, if we continue to sell our players, it doesn’t make any difference to me. I’ve long since accepted I haven’t a clue what is going on so it would just be another player to add to the pot. Perhaps we have our sights on a 7 a side tournament.

Sell everyone!! We are rich I tell you…Rich!

So, PSG get Bernie & we'd get Neymar ?
Fuck that, in fact, fuck that twice
Exactly.....Neymar is a c*nt and a nasty piece of work imho....he would poison the dressing room. He goes missing in games when the chips are down and takes time out the season every year for obscure and bizarre reasons...he is the exact opposite of the profile we should be looking at.

Swapping him for Bernardo would be morally bankrupt

Dont want him anywhere near our club ever....He is in the mould of Ibrahimovic as well....same goes for that guy...would never ever have had him anywhere near our club even before he went to the rags.

The fact that it is a world Cup year isn't going to help us with a thin squad. We can try and rotate to protect players but you can damn well bet their national managers will push them to burnout.

Seems PSG need to sell to get money in for Bernardo according to that report.
