It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I wouldn't care. He admitted last week he wants to earn a shitload of cash in his career, and why not?

We'd be in the very fortunate position to be able to offer him and his dad £50m off the books (if that was our thing) and nobody would be any the wiser.

Straight into the Abu Dhabi National Bank, whilst also paying him a nice wage increase on the books.
Not sure you've thought this through....

It's exactly what we have been accused of and has the problem of being in breach of football regs and tax regs if not declared.

Trying proving it!

Neymar got £47m from Qatar at the push of a button.

Haaland camp only has to declare the tax on what they owe, not what they have been paid to the wider public.

We gave Pellegrini a £3m Lowry as a thank you leaving gift.

Apparently he liked Lowry...

Trying proving it you say - well subsequent to the Football Leaks (pre-der speigel) there have been lots of tax cases against players. The Spanish ones spring to mind.

You are advocating City evade employer responsibilities and pay off the books, breaking the law and avoiding NIC.
Then there is cheating with the football authorities. Why would they do that? Note the new proposed FFP regs are also more stringent about it as well.

We know HMRC have been very aggressive with City in the past and with football clubs and players generally. There is no tax break for a £3million leaving gift and City presumably would have paid tax on that in the same way we now know they paid tax on the Mancini "hidden" contract.

I think you are being naive in the extreme. The UK tax authorities have little power of discovery when it comes to banks in the Emirates.

Much the same as Switzerland.

The Der Spiegel stuff was as a result of a hack of City's shit, internal email system.

You could have been paid £20m today by Sheikh Mansour set up in the Emirates and the footballing authorities and tax people would have no clue.

That money could be held for years or paid at a later date, even after his playing time.

It happens right across football at the highest levels. With regards the HMRC clampdown, this has been more regards image rights and personal service companies.

City pay their employer responsibilities and subsequent NIC, which is a completely separate issue to me saying a payment at a later date coming directly from our owner would not be on the radar.

*If such a scenario was ever in play.

Why would Haaland not declare it?

The income would not have come directly from City.

He could have been paid as an ambassador for Abu Dhabi, just as Neymar was by Qatar.

Haaland doesn't need to divulge other sources of his income for the general public to decide which of it is acceptable and legal.

He gets paid by boot sponsors, nobody knows how much outside of his sponsors.
