Some have mentioned Gomez, having watched Spain and Gomez at the U-21 tournament, he was nice and tidy most of the time on the ball, pressed really well as you'd expect, had great crossing ability, and even was robbed of some assists by awful finishing... most of the time dropped into midfield rather than wide mid... Scored some great goals. No real ability to beat a man, mainly due to his pace (lack of) his dribbling and touch at times were to liken him to Bambi on ice. A lot are seeing the stats and great finishes and being clouded in thought esp at the u-21 level.
Maybe for a mid-table team, he would provide an option or even as above, a few cup games maybe dropping central but to replace Mahrez no way, if he had this amazing talent Pep would have surely played him there last season more even against lesser teams, we see him come on and play left back and even central mid before winger so.
Also when it actually mattered (in the final) he did give the freekick away England scored from, making a rash tackle as he did for City last season at times.
