I suspect the answer is ffp related but I don't see why anyone would do this rather than just permanent sale now but structure the payments so nothing needed to be paid for a year.

You would need to speak to those who do the deals, but I suspect that Barca don't have the necessary funds for a transfer atm.
Getting him out of the way with a commitment to buy at a later stage is what we might have to settle for.
