It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I disagree. But I recognise a completely valid take.

Think he is being honest, think Kyle would have been honest too. What Gundo said at the time felt very real, and this is mostly consistent with it. Kyle has a year left regardless, so he couldn't have just left, if he didn't get the deal he wanted.

Either way, Gundo got what he wanted, he has always said as much. And the club moved on appropriately.
I think he was being honest - you just don't have to tell everyone exactly your entire thought process.

Of course, but the bit he is telling us is, he wanted that move, after that ending. Sure things might have been different had he already signed a deal before those stages. But then, would we have won the treble? That's just as valid a question as any other what if.

Absolutely - I agree on that part, it does sound like he's suggesting that the Treble was a nice time to leave. Although that does suggest that, like any decision, it's made up of multiple factors.

I was just saying that it's still quite possible that the 2/3 year contract offer could have been one of the factors that tipped him one way or the other - particularly as, rather than just being a year of money, the extra year might be more symbolic about showing how keen City were to keep him.

I have no idea if the 2/3 year thing is true - just saying it seems harsh to call people bullshitters when it's quite possible to have this interview, in perfectly good faith, and it still be true about the contract being a factor.

All very true. I'll rephrase. It is bullshit, when presented as the only reason he left. Which is almost all of the time.

Or we felt confident on Bellingham? Really no point in worrying now as Kovacic has been a fantastic signing so far and Gundo would have been 33 anyway?
I think this definitely compounded the situation.

I know the ITK's can't be totally relied upon, but there was a lot of noise and confidence, amongst a lot of people, that we would sign Bellingham.

In reading Gundo's words and putting 2&2 together and coming up with 5, i think we really thought we had both Bellingham and Kovacic so were prepared to lose Gundo. We then found out Bellingham wasn't signing so we went full on to try and resign Gundo but were to late and it just looked like we were scrambling from then on to get another midfielder in.

I'm gutted we didn't get Bellingham, he looks great so far & would've been so good for us.

It's the right decision if it's true, why would Pep suddenly made promise to anyone especially for Palmer to give guarantee regular minutes for his player.
I heard from someone close to the club people he had a bit of chip on the shoulder and arrogance that rubbed the wrong way with Pep. He got a big move so that’s that.

FFS, who the hell Palmer think he is if it was true.

Nobody in our team have preferential treatment, if Pep thinks the player is not pulling his shift enough even someone like Haaland will get dropped or benched just to show his player that his authority is absolute and you have to fight for you spot in his team to get minutes.
