It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

my 2p worth is that Cole wanted more game time and with Doku coming in asked where he stood and didnt get any assurances from Pep and asked could he look at opportunities. That coupled with a £45m fee made it a win win for both and everyone left it happy

Interesting that the media has been linking us with loads of left backs in the last week or two. Barco, Balde, Maatsen and even supposedly a loan proposal for Cucurella in January.
Is Pep already thinking ahead to his next move after the 4 CB system?

It will be interesting in the next few windows, Pep likes a small squad, so if he does longer than the next two years, this will continue, however if it looks like he’s going his replacement may well want a bigger squad, so will we see purchases of more additional players in the not to distant future, 24/25 this may show that Pep is not staying longer?

There's another side to that.

Pep knows any system he comes up with has a shelf life. FFS who saw us playing 4 CB and going from False 9 to False 5 Stones?

If you remember.. the 19-20 season.. every team would park the bus and counter with pacy players.. we lost 9 PL games that way.. seemed like ground hog day.. every game we lost was the same way..

That's why Pep got obsessed with control and now we're more of a defensive powerhouse with deadly counters.

They planned on big changes after that 19-20 season but they didn't work due to covid..

He'll undoubtedly continue to refresh the squad to stay 1 step ahead of the competition and there's no real blueprint on how to beat us.

Either way have to keep Pep.. and hope he spends decades here!

In March, Pep said that the 4 CB formation was purely because of a lack of FB options available to him.

We'd be crazy to pigeon hole ourselves into only one tactical formation. What happens when the opposition find the key to unlock our padlock? We'd be fucked... \0/
