We don’t sign players to make headline news. We win trophies. We sign players we need

The problem is in a CL semi final or defining PL game our midfield would be
Rodri, Foden and Kev/Bernie
Guimares starts for Brazil so he's not going to want that. However many games he gets during the campaign.
That's why it probably makes more sense to sign Wharton.
Think he would take the Gundo role if he came maybe 3 at the back with Kev and Phil as 10'sThe problem is in a CL semi final or defining PL game our midfield would be

Not really true though as Kovačić started a bunch of those big games last seasonThe problem is in a CL semi final or defining PL game our midfield would be

With Rodri around they're not going to be. But in a couple of years Rodri goes back to Spain and Wharton becomes the number 1. He's got time on his side. Guimares doesn't.Wharton is looking like a regular for Palace, why would he want to risk that for a back-up role at City, at his age.
Players that come will need to want to back themselves to be first choice.
Good point. I'd completely forgotten about him. If he replaces Rodri in some games and has Bernie alongside that would work. Not really true though as Kovačić started a bunch of those big games last season

Basically Garcia at RBTiny, weak, poor defensively and not deceptively quick
