It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

He's not starting every week at Chelsea or United either. He'll play more than he would here, but let's not get carried away...

As said already, not sure that’s true at Chelsea - for all the money thrown around they’ve neglected the DM and only have Loftus-Cheek (off the summer), Zakaria (loan and nowhere near the standard needed) and Kante (finished).

They’ve had to resort to dropping Fernandez in since the WC, signing a true DM will be a key target for them to allow him to move further up the pitch.

Looking like we are listening for offers on Walker.
Yeah, there seems to be at least a couple of clubs interested as well. He has been a brilliant servant for us, but I think it's about time we move him on, we don't rely on him as much anymore, and we are in for a bit of a rebuild this summer. Hickey looks like a likely replacement.

What happens when we come up against Mbappe speed merchants

I'm not so sure about Zakaria. He was very good for them when he first rocked up and was one of their best players (imho) when we played them in the league.

They just have so many players and have had so much tumult at club level that telling the actual shit player from the 'shit because Chelsea are shit' player is a real challenge. I suspect there might be a real gem or two among the excess players group at the Chavs.

Not sure City really need to be or will be that careful - at the end of the day the academy is still doing it’s job producing players to sell on and the natural leakage of kids who see opportunity elsewhere is industry wide and a known cost of doing business.

As we saw last summer, sometimes even the 0.1% like Lavia who are good enough for City will be moved on in favour of a finished article.
The reputation the club has also has huge advantages in the value of these young players.

We are getting huge premiums for them because of where they learned their trade, few will make it to the very top as we have already seen.

Most have also left with buy back options which can be used IF and when the player reaches potential.

Agreed he’s been amazing for us I remember when we bought him and we played united in a pre season friendly, he got In a foot race with rashford and won which sent the fan base mental after watching zaba and Sagna, just think he doesn’t fit the system anymore.
Isnt Hickey a left back?
He could stay for another year and go to Sheffield United as rico is probably gonna play in more games next season as he’s gonna bulk up in preseason.

Hickey plays predominantly as a right-back (as far as I know) for Brentford, and he is right-footed (looks very both-footed, though), but he can play as a left-back equally well, or even in midfield (for the inverted role). I would want Kyle to stay, but judging by recent reports of Pep wanting wide defenders, I think he might be sold this summer. As you said, he doesn't fit our system anymore, but obviously, we know how fantastic his contribution can be otherwise.

I actually think it's all about positional awareness and defensive skills, and it's not like any defender can match the pace of the likes of Mbappe. Nathan Ake comes to mind, but I understand we need fast full-backs in whatever role, and I agree. We seem to play in the inverted system a lot nowadays, so I would let them worry about us and play Stonesy as an inverted right back with Bernie helping out.

Having said that, there isn't a right-back in world football who could replace Kyle, so I guess we have to adapt and evolve, like always. I hope he stays one more year, but if recent reports are anything to go by, we are listening to offers for him. His little involvement over the last few weeks tells the same story.

Anyway, I wonder if we are seriously considering the alleged 55m quid for Kalvin+Kyle...
