Two weeks left in this window. Considering how 'fast' we are working this summer we better prepare for an exciting deadline day!
It’s not popular on a transfer forum but we have to consider the possibility that we won’t sign anyone. We know Txiki and co are good at what they do. We clearly didn’t compete for Neves - Benfica would have been pushing him to us. Bruno G would have been signed before the PSR deadline if we were getting him because that would have been the point in time when we had some leverage. We know from past history (Nunes aside) we tend to be patient in the transfer market and don’t overreact or panic buy. It could be that the players we want for specific positions just aren’t available at the valuations we place on them and we are going to give youth more of a chance this season. I genuinely don’t think any of our major challengers have appreciably improved their squads - so we should be there or there abouts again and hopefully we can avoid key injuries to key players this season.
As an aside it would be interesting to know what United’s wage bill is at this point in time because they have bought players in and haven’t removed quite as many big earners as they must have anticipated but I guess it’s of no consequence given that PSR doesn’t apply to them.
