It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

You can tell if Pep trusts the players by the games he plays them in.

(Not sure if you actually looked at the data linked for each player?)

Of the first 4 games of Ake's first season, (when no one knew which team was going to win the league), Ake played 3 full 90minutes at CB, scoring 1 goal, (in the other game he came on for Mendy at LB on 71 minutes). Then he got an injured groin followed by a hamstring injury. His season was hampered by injury but was regularly playing whole 90 minute games when he was fit.

With Nunes, he only played 90 minutes of PL football for us, all season, in 3 home games to Luton, Burnley and Forest.

IMO it's quite clear Pep doesn't trust Nunes yet.

I agree if there was nothing at stake Nunes would likely have been given more game time.

Phillips was clearly another player who was not trusted in tough fixtures when something significant was at stake.
The start of that season was chaos because of covid, it started late, mere weeks after the previous season ended. Players didn't get a pre-season or a proper break, there was loads of injuries and players missing because of covid, ake played from the off because we had nobody else available, it was the time when we had Eric Garcia and a 78 year old fernandinho as the centre back options it was a very unique circumstance and not one to be compared to.

Nunes is just down the pecking order and hasn't had the opportunity yet, there hasn't been a situation where he's next in line to play and peps still not picked him like he has done with phillips.

I'm sure Pep would insist he has the opportunity in every single training session where he has to show he is ready and has the will to start the next match. Nobody starts for Pep if he hasn't shown in training he deserves to start the next match.

Before Pep can trust in Nunes, Nunes has to trust in himself. As was/is the case with Phillips. Both had the body and the skill, the competitive power and burning desire they had not.

He’s done fuck all for them really if we are being honest. 300k a week and provides nothing for the club, hopefully he’s early enough money and is not arsed so he can go to Villa.

Plus would rather the manager be honest than just lie to the media.
Just like Connor Gallagher, Sterling seems surplus to requirements for more than footballing reasons.

Bohely has turned Chelsea into an exoensive basket case. They have 43 senior players, & are still signing more. Utter madness!

I was relieved Sterling wasn't in the squad on Sunday.
