It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

You always speak as if it is a given fact but I don't believe you can be that certain.

If Pep feels that 1 or possibly 2 signings, of the right calibre would benefit the team, and are attainable, then I believe it could happen.

Of course we will know what the reality of the matter is soon enough.
it is near enough impossible in this window for that to happen. Zubimendi has already turned down Liverpool and any alternative would be involved in their own title races and settled. It doesn't matter if we have the money readily available or not if the player isn't intrested moving mid-season then nothing we can do to persuade to make that. Again it doesn't stop us talking for the summer.

So it's not a fact but merely your opinion.

You don't know whether Zubimendi would have a different attitude if we approached him.

He will know that Rodri is going to be missing for some months yet, during which time he could move and establish himself in the team, with Pep outlining a plan to incorporate both players ultimately.

Squad places especially the Champions League. Who would we leave out if we did bring one in? The player senior player wouldn't be too chuffed with that and would want to leave near enough straight away.
we have 2 spaces currently, even without unregistering Rodri. we're fine for Jan

It's not though, and many posters have told you exactly why.

There will be a lot of top quality players out there who want to join City. Not everyone is in a title race and plenty won't even care if it means a bigger pay day and working with Pep. Plenty will have aspirations to move to the PL.

Zubimendi might not be one we can make happen, we'll see. That's possibly harder with his love of the club and the fact they lost a few players in the summer - maybe he'll feel he owes it to them to stay this season. But maybe we can work something out and they can replace him in January as well.

If not, there will be others we could secure.

I’m sure the necessary phone calls to players and their agents are being made to gauge their interest.

Most players will see City as a huge step up for them.

On the Rodri issue, he could play as an 8, alongside the new 6, so assuming Gundogan goes at the end of the season, they’ll get ample game time whether Rodri is fit or not.

Pep tried scratching last night
Fella needs to stick to management then.

Again short term (ie Janaury). Any possible target would not want to move midseason with a side that is really struggling to compete for trophies. He would want to bide his time.
Cobblers. Say we miss out on CL they are more likely to not want to come. Right now they’d be joining a side hopefully still in 3 tournaments with the best manager in the world. Who wouldn’t want to move midseason to a side that is now considered one of the best in world football. Forget current form which is garbage somehow we are still 2nd in table.

I think Rodri is so complete that he can even do what Yaya did for us. But aside from that, the sheer number of games and post-injury welfare of Rodri means that anyone coming in will get ample game time.
