It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I think January is what we're all clinging to right now, Fordy. I just can't believe that these past two months have been well-received at all in Abu Dhabi. Questions need to be asked and answers need to be given. I still reckon this period may be a blessing from the perspective that it brings forward our plans by six months. It's become so bad now that it can't be ignored. If we'd muddled on through and fallen away at the end of the season, we might have convinced ourselves that all is well. The worse it gets now, the more decisively the board will act.
Yep, fingers crossed some quality arrives pal

I doubt we will be adding any real quality that will make much difference, just add some quantity, "tough to do business in January", "this team won the league last year", "some players are coming back from injury" and all that. Maybe something like Echeverri staying and someone like Pepelu joining. Possibly a defender joining on a bargain deal. Which would obviously be very underwhelming and basically saying that the club is giving up on this season.

But who knows, I dont think we ever had such poor form as we currently have (since the takeover) so it's hard to know how and if the club will actually react. But considering we are 2 weeks from January, our problems have been known for a while now and yet not a single top player has even been seriously linked with a January move here, it doesnt exactly fill me with confidence that we will see any major reinforcements.

With that said, I really hope I'm wrong.

Fine I’m all for that as long as we buy quality over quantity. No more shite buys or ones for the future. Not sure the calibre of players we need will be available in Jan.
I think we will have to make more of an effort to make them available. We're basically paying a premium but it's worth paying if it secures us top four and reverses this decline. It is more difficult to bring in players in January but our need is so urgent.

Yeah, I agree with pretty much all of that. We've been linked with pretty much everyone but, at the same time, no-one (if that makes sense).

I can certainly see two midfielders arriving in January but they have to be good enough. That's no easy task without release clauses. But every now and then, you come across an emergency that requires drastic action. This is one such time.

Neither the owners nor the board will panic. I strongly believe that the reasons for the current performance will have been presented to them together with a plan to improve. These are people used to acting decisively but not rashly to correct areas of poor performance. I have no doubt that we will demonstrate we are the biggest dog around in the next 2 windows just as we have in the past.

Really tough one this. Obviously we need a player or two, but who. At the moment I think this is what we're asking. Someone to come mid season, improve an under performing team, hit the ground running from the off and generally help lift the malaise. Going to be hard to get the right guy.

I hope Txiki or whoever else is planning the transfer for this window go back to the old City habit of rigid negotiations which prove detrimental in the long run -

Like Bruno G. Or Declan Rice - Newcastle told long time back they would take 100 mil. West Ham too. We needed a player in that position. Just pay it.
That’s better then paying 110 for Phillips and Nunes.

We overpaid a little for Mahrez and Laporte or Walker ( the old one - not this new turgid version) but god these transfers paid back by a dozen.

It’s been a shambles from the club off the pitch in the last few years. Apart from Haaland, how many signings have improved the first team in the last 3 years? Couple of decent squad additions but largely standing still.

The failure to sign a back up for Rodri will probably cost us top 4. As someone else said, refusing to pay big money for Bruno & Rice but still spending a lot of that money on shit like Phillips and Nunes.

Letting Cole Palmer leave because we brought Doku in.. Palmer is literally the KDB replacement that we now won’t be able to get, and our team lacks that decisive playmaker with goals & assists. Too many signings like Doku , Savinho and Grealish in attack with Zero end product. When Bernardo plays wide right add him to the same list.

Letting Alvarez go and wanking over the fee but not spending it.

You might like to think it would be rectified in January but Txiki can’t get a lot of deals over the line at the best of times I don’t know who actually believes he will get several done of the right quality in 4 weeks when most clubs do not want to sell.
